New bench

A new bench has been installed at Alton Towers.

What does everyone think of it? Personally I'm a big fan. I love this style of bench; it's a classic design and yet the pink adds a nice contemporary spin.

I'm visiting the park next Sunday so hopefully I'll get to sit on it and I'll post a full review.

Has anyone already had a sit on it? Love to know your thoughts

Still think Europa-Park do it better.

Do you think If we all pitch in we could get an evening exclusive ride...err sit time session organised with Towers?

Good news for all purple (it’s meant to be purple) bench fans out there. Capacity should be significantly increased on this attraction as all smoking areas will be graced with their presence as per the notice on the park map.

This should mean there will be ample opportunity to experience this fantastical attraction. Bit of second hand smoke never hurt anybody. Right?

Excellent the purple will blend right in with the respiratory failure purple colouring you get with COPD!

At least universal and busch Gardens usualy hid their smoking areas when I was in florida

Fully agree - the smoking areas in the Florida parks are fairly well hidden away, but never far from the beaten track.

This is Towers / Merlin we are talking about here. The smoking benches are right on the beaten track / main pathway. If they wanted to hide it, they would just go to B&Q and buy a few cheap fence panels and erect them in such a way to cause even more of an obstruction to the pathway. Said fence panels - if not quickly vandalised - could be a good place to place a Leek Signs sign advertising some up-sell offer. This is theming "Towers Style", with a twist of Merlin Magic thrown in.

Second only to Disney - don't forget that!

On the smoking subject, Disney has completely banned smoking in the parks now.

I hadn't heard this and a quick google still suggests that DLP and the others still have designated smoking areas on park. Where did you get this info?

It’s WDW that have removed smoking areas from within the parks, effectively banning smoking. There are smoking areas outside the parks still.

Yep WDW banned it about a week before we went. We saw no smokers and about 2 people vapeing whilst we where there for 12 days so it seemed to be working pretty well.
