2019: Europa-Park General Discussion

To be fair, that is rather 'unsafe'! It's just luck that the chain didn't bundle differently and encroach into the riders space.
On the plus side, if that happened I'm sure Roland would sort you out a free lifetime Europa-Park Clubcard ;)

GCI don’t have that sleeve like trough for the chain so if it snaps it’s going to coil like that under the weight I suppose. Most modern coasters have the sleeve which would prevent the chain lifting up out of the trough like that.

Bet that was a bit scary on the front row

I bet they'll be retrofitted on now :tearsofjoy:. I wouldn't be surprised if they close Wicker Man to do checks on it now.

And work is already underway!

Six hour fix, tops.
The quick fix would be to replace the snapped link and leave it there. The question is, will there be extensive investigations and ultrasonic scanning of every chain in the park, while keeping all rides open.... Or will there be reactionary finger pointing and blame shifting, while keeping all rides closed "just in case".

It's Germany, not the UK. We all know the answer. ;)

That is correct!

Impressive that our team of Operations & Service repaired a major technical defect "just so" in less than 24 hours. That's a crucial part of the quality.

Europa-Park everybody!

It’s been a couple of years since we’ve last visited, so I thought I’d post some random, lesser spoken about observations from our first day:

Silver Lake looks to have had a bit of a rearrangement to its themeing outside. Have they removed the “please scrape shit off boots” sign?

I was excited to try the EPA Pale Ale. It was just okay.

Madame Freudenriche was just as weird as I expected. It made very little sense. Jim Knopf was a delight.

The perspex on Euro Tower is now badly crazed. On a sunny day it really effects the view, which is the only reason for going on Euro Tower in the first place.

Batavia’s animatronic is even more lifelike in person.

Voletarium’s picture seems to have improved, however the sound remains underwhelming. If you’re going to rip off Soarin’ at least copy their speaker array. The bass is just not there when you should feel the thud of things like the fireworks at the end.

The Feel The Beat show in Italy is really bad. It feels very ‘caravan site’; the singing quality is not good.

It’s good to see Arthur remaining so popular after five years. It had the most consistently long queue all day. Please build more rides like this EP.

The French area now feels so much better and more complete with the change to Eurosat. The area by the old ride shop now feels quite enveloping in its theme, rather than the confused “spaceship Paris” feel it used to exude. All I’d say is that the new fountains are a tad annoying.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that we’ve never seen the EP Band play more than one song before they move on. I think we’re just unlucky, but is there a schedule for them anywhere? We’d love to watch them play a few songs.

Overall, it’s just good to get back. I remember why I love this place so much and a lot of it is just the intangibles.

Does anyone know when the Gazprom and Mercedes contracts expire? Particularly Mercedes, as Silver Star really stands out (negatively) in the revamped French area. I’d love for it to get some affection with a retheme á la Eurosat. But I suppose that’s impossible with Mercedes’ presence?

I think more theme parks should take money off the Russian government for sponsorship!

Bizarre decision by the Mack family.

I visited Europa park for the first time last week. I was told so many good things about it i exected to be dissapointed.

I wasn't dissapointed at all, it exceeded any expectations. So beautiful, so well done, food great, not badly priced. Enjoyed everything i managed to get on.

Operations so quick as well, it's hard to believe anywhere could better it.
