Theme Park Worldwide

Unless you know someone personally don't believe any of those "expert" assessments of earnings from ad revenue, especially anything pre the Vox outrage. A couple I know on completely different subjects are both assessed to be big earners, one earns about £500 a month, the other barely a tenner. I'm sure there are some millionaires, but earnings are not as high as you'd think.

Like what I said. I don't think Shawn is making £5000 a month. Good luck to him if he is but I don't think 200,000 subs pays that well tbh.

I think you have to up near the 1 million mark to be earning that kind of cash.

But he'll be doing 20-25k a year now I'd imagine which is still crazy money when you still live at home. That's why he can go everywhere he does.

But all the power to him. He's doing what he loves and gets paid for it. I wouldn't want my hobby to become my job purely because it would make it less fun. Theme park trips are fun when you look forward to them and they are sporadic to me. If you were at one every other day the fun would soon wear off a bit.

But yes the 7,500 dollars a month doesn't seem accurate at all. I don't think that video is proof.

so he posts hi analytics and is there on the screen $7762 in the last 28 days o_O

Don't think that's the going rate. He may have had loads of views that month on previous vids. There's a lot of variables.

I don't think a YouTube account with 200k subs earns £50,000 a year. Thats what you're implying there basically.

I'm sure he's doing well now and can make a living but I don't think he's earning 50k just yet.

Simple Google search suggests that an account with 2million subs gets roughly 10 grand a month for example so there's no way one with 200k gets 7,500.

YouTube doesn't pay a flat rate per view. Depending on the Industry they pay between 2dollars to 8 dollars a view.

Don't think the theme park community would fall into the top bracket. He'll be getting the low rate as it's mostly kids who don't have lots of disposal income who watch his videos.

Many things to take into account. Ads from my experience pay different amounts for different things. Example a advertiser will pay yt more for a video that has gone or in the process of going viral. Yt bots can normally spot the viewer activity before they blow up and can select a ad that is pretty close to the subject matter of the video. Most views come on that 1 vid so most money earned on it.

If you see my post above I went into more detail.

YouTube will clearly pay more money to videos that attract people with more disposable money as they are more likely to spend money on the ads.

I'd hazard a guess that a lot of Shawn's audience are students and don't earn a great deal of cash (if any) so I doubt YouTube will be paying him the top band for advertising. Why would they? Their return wouldn't be as high.

He'll still be doing well though for sure. You could probably live off what he gets now easily if you lived at home with no mortgage and bills.

But again look at the ads for yt. They dont have to be about spending money. Channels like Shawn's attract many people. I'm 36 and personally enjoy his content. I know others the same. But let's say your right. His views come mainly from a younger audience. Yt will just match it with a ad that focuses on that main demographic. Mobile games etc and they pay EXTREMLY well. Most views come in the first 24 hours. That's where a content creator makes his wages. As long as they keep pushing out the videos and it being good content. They will earn good money even if they have 200k subs. Subs really doesnt matter. Subs might get you a play button. But views...that pays your Bill's. So you look at channel views not channel subs

Don't you end up selling your soul to the YouTube machine though? You have to keep on making content, all the time. You can never stop else the revenue drops so that means every day visiting or recording something. I'm not sure it's sustainable to do that in the long term.

Lots of creators get burnt out. And copyright strikes that's out of place doesn't help. Always trying to figure out the bots as to what there looking for, so that's why I enjoy Shawn's videos. He does what he loves and it shows. Cant get burnt out if your enjoying yourself lol

YouTube doesn't match an ad for a specific demographic of what it thinks is watching the video. It literally matches the ad for each individual person watching the video based on what they know about that person and their online ad id.

The adverts are highly specific and highly targetted. This is Google after all, the business model revolves around this stuff.

You can get burnt out if you are enjoying yourself, believe me.
If he gets sick of it, he can always take the bigger bucks and go on a reality show...
I might watch I'm a Celebrity if he was on it!

I went over to the dark side once and mixed my hobby with business when I wrote a book. Because of deadlines imposed by the publisher it turned out to be six months of hell that nearly destroyed my love for coasters. I was going to parks to photograph them rather than enjoying them. Even now 4 years later I still don't have the love for them I did previously. I have been asked to do a follow up, but have turned it down. I have even lost my passion for photography because of it and haven't used any of my SLR's in 2 years !! I will never mix business with pleasure again !!! :)

Re TPWW, I don't watch his videos (or any ones actually on Youtube) as I prefer to explore things on my own when I visit. What one person says is good, others think is meh and vice versa. To me its funny how some people hang on his every word. Just go and experience it for yourself and make up your own mind ;)

As I haven't watched any of his videos, does he actually ever say that he has been given free tickets or perks from parks? Because if so, he is hardly going to slate a parks new attraction. In fact isn't there something now that vloggers have to say if they have received anything that could influence their view? Does Shawn do this?

That is what I don't like, not just vloggers, but people giving a false view of something just so they don't upset the company and therefore don't get invited back because they tell the truth.

I can think of a few well known people who have publicly slated a park / ride because they didnt get any perks from them.

But hey, good luck to him.

In the last few videos I watched from his Holland trip at least 2 of them parks were gifted and he clearly stated in the Walibi Holland (I think) vlog he got free unlimited fast track.

I don't think I'd be posting my earnings from YT like that, that's getting up near needing to be registered for VAT levels let along declaring the income to HMRC which I hope he already does.

Oh hang on, that screenshot isn't from Shawn's account, ah I see, back to my original point, unless Shawn has told or shown you what he earns, don't assume it based on someone else's stats that can easily be photoshopped.

For whatever reason, be it the nights drawing in, the fact I haven't been to a park all year or just old-fashioned chronic depression, but I have been dipping in and out of TPW videos lately.

I must say, I do like Shawn. There's something endearing about he could seemingly be any age between 21 and 55, and his kind-hearted Dad humour is weirdly reassuring. Alex is a good foil, but I really do prefer Charlotte and her complete refusal to laugh at any of his utterly lame jokes. Meanwhile, she is actually really funny and refreshingly honest. I just watched their Universal Studios vlog, and her dismissal of Transformers: The Ride ("Oh, look, they're having a fight... What's happening now? Oh, they're having another fight"), really made me laugh, as did her ardent refusal to share Shawn's enthusiasm for a used $99 prop pumpkin, given that "you can get one of those for a couple of quid at TX Maxx."

I think when enthusiasts and other vloggers are apparently baffled at the success of TPW, they need to imagine how accessible this is to somebody more on 'the outside'.

In an interesting piece of news, we are apparently getting TPW coverage from IAAPA in Orlando for the first time ever, as Shawn has been invited back out there just 1 month after he returned!
