What would Alton Towers be like if Towers Street was in charge?

I'm pleasantly surprised there's been no mention of re-theming Cloud Cuckoo Land into DaLucaLand™ Resort yet.

I personally would be very realistic if I were in charge of Alton. I would not want to build an obscene number of multi million pound coasters or a plethora of flat rides. I would concentrate on getting families into the park by providing entertainment and offering an enjoyable and fun day.

I have been saying for a long long time (not necessarily on here), but Alton Towers divides families. If you have a family with 3 kids of all differing age ranges, then someone is going to get bored at Alton pretty quickly.

Unlike many European parks, there are not attractions for everyone in most (if not all) areas. Take Energylandia's new Dragon area, there is a coaster for everyone; extreme, family and kiddie. There is a family monorail and a kiddie flat. There is also a stage which has entertainment throughout the afternoon and also a general play area. Everyone can stay in the same area and then meet up after their adventures.

Alton Towers, needs more entertainment, shows and it needs to mix up some of the areas. Put in a playground on the submission gardens, so families can entertain kids while waiting for the older kids going on Oblivion and Smiler. Its the same in Forbidden Valley, what is there for a 3 to 4 year old kid to do there? Nothing. I can guarantee that if those areas were in most European parks there would be a full mix of attractions for everyone.

I think themeing in general needs an update. Most areas are just a vague reference to a theme. So first I would get the park to feel more immersive and themed a lot better. Especially round events (such as scarefest, put pumpkins round the park and make it feel more spooky).

Ticket prices I would keep the same but show how the prices are being invested back in the park - reduce car parking pricing though.

Opening times I would do 9-4 Monday - Wednesday (optional extra to 5/6 on busier days)
Thursday - Sunday 9-6 with it extending to 7/8 on busier days / more peak season

get the rapids back to a good standard with the water being choppier and waterfalls back on

attempt to introduce a disney style fast track where it is free but you have to book via an app for specific times

get 2-3 flats in and dotted round the park (especially one where Ripsaw use to be)

Take out rita and earmark the area for redevelopment

Been thinking about this and I would actually not install any new rides as a first priority. My first priority would be to go around every area of the park and paint, fix, and clean up any areas which look tatty, need replacing etc. Fix any broken themeing, (particularly in Duel) and just make the park not look so run down in places.

I would do the same in the hotels, refurb the rooms in Splash, fit fans into the rooms in Enchanted village, and look to improve the food offerings in all hotel restaurants.

As for the waterpark, fix all the water guns, effects etc not working (there are a lot).

Generally, a good clean up, repaint, maintenance etc would have such a positive effect on the park and hotels without spending millions on a new ride.

How can you market that? New for 2020, we've fixed all the stuff that shouldn't have been broken in the first place.

Well, you wouldnt market it as such. Its something that shouldnt need to be marketed anyway but in terms of if i was running the place thats where I would start

I would turn all the water pumps up to the max on the Congo lazy river ride and turn it into the river wild ride and also get those waterfalls flowing again.
