Chessington World of Adventures Resort

Presumably this would come next year? Interesting addition if true; I actually think it could work very well, as Chessington is very much a young families' park these days, and it will actually be their first new piece of ride hardware since Zufari in 2013, so that's a great move, in my opinion!

It seems that Chessington have submitted another planning application. This time for the addition of a mini log flume (the log flume that was removed from Weymouth Sealife a couple of years back), and alterations and retheming of Toadie’s Crazy Cars.

Seriously? A second hand off-the-shelf log flume?

Desperate stuff.

Chessie made me the geek I am.
It shaped my childhood.
I spent most of my teenage summer hols there.
It litterally changed my life. Never would have met you lot without it.

These days I wouldn't relieve myself on Chessie if it was burning down.
Second hand kiddy flume‽ Wardley (praise him) must cry himself to sleep, the poor fellow.
:'(

This actually wouldn't be so bad if:

1. The log flume wasn't second hand
2. If it didn't exist in the park that already has one
3. It wouldn't get advertised as a world's first (it will be...)
4. If the park would just be put out of its misery

Point 2 being the most salient - they’re even putting it pretty much next to the existing one. What on Earth are they doing?

It’s described as the ‘croc flume’ on the plans - are we now in for a spate of crocodile-themed attractions given the supposed set dressing of the drop tower?

Alton is a desperate need of a tracked water ride of some sort. Yet have non. Now Chessie have two. What the hell.

Failing to see the point in another log flume

unless they are going to strap VR to it and market it as a worlds first

Is it any wonder I've only done two days at a UK park (Blackpool and Towers) this year?

Pointless addition, even if a handful of other parks do similar, Chessie is not big enough to warrant two bloody log flumes...

Hell put it in Towers, least that actually plugs a gap!

I know climate change is a bit of a fad at the moment but the weather isn't dry or hot enough for long enough to justify one log flume round here, let alone two...

It’s worth bearing in mind this log flume is small scale. Max height of 4 metres and aimed at the younger market that can’t ride Tiger Rock due to its 1.2m height restriction.

Ok it’s second hand and hardly inspiring. But it doesn’t take the place of an existing ride and adds something else for guests to do. Hopefully it will be themed to a reasonable standard (Safari themed apparently). I see it as the equivalent of Towers getting the second hand Peter Rabbit drop ride this season. Nothing amazing, but certainly not offensive either.

I didn’t think you could kill something which had already died. I stand corrected. :(

Edit: can we do a chessy meet up? I haven’t stepped foot in the park in just under a decade. I’d love to have a miserable day of moaning and reminiscing.

Edit2: oh wait... it’s less than nearly a decade, I went on one of the last bubbleworks rides...STILL, it’s been a while.

I've said it on here before, 90's Chessington was well up there with the peak of UK theme parks. It's been an almighty fall from grace. Wardley quite rightly gets a lot of credit for his input at Towers, but some of his most creative work was at Chessington.

Also there was an earlier Bubbleworks last ride event in Autumn 2005 before the shower gel retheme, I'd pinpoint that day as to when CWOA died.
