2019: Nickelodeon Universe at American Dream NJ

Watching the Takabisha clone made me realise the original isn't as big as I thought. In my head I always saw Takabisha as a giant ride but now it seems just like any other Eurofighter but with a bit more length.

To be fair, I think Takabisha is still fairly large, at 141ft tall!

Sounds like this place is having a few troubles keeping everything open, perhaps not completely surprising for a new park.

A friend of mine visited yesterday, TMNT Shellraiser (the Takabisha clone), Shredder (spinning coaster) and Skyline Scream (drop tower) were all closed.

Sandy's Blasting Bronco (Intamin LSM) is still under construction.

Unthemed rides in unthemed buildings are utterly soulless, aren't they? So much more of a stark issue than unthemed rides outside.

It does seem amazingly devoid of colour compared to the three Nickelodeon lands I've been to this year. I'd hope its a case of them getting the theming in once everything is up and running.

The water park at American Dream has been previewing.

Having worked in a water park and watched life guards pull dozens of guests from wave pools in various states of consciousness, the sheer size of that thing scares the bejesus out of me.

It's $99 a ticket (80 quid!) for a day ticket? And you're unable to actually find yourself nude for a minute to change? Hmm, think I'll pass on this, despite the tempting presence of a giant, all-seeing Shrek.

Still, pleased that a few-dozen guests who got to experience this for a few hours before it fails to open for six months.
