2019: Rulantica

Is it me or does that wild river look like you are supposed to go down it in a ring?

I spoke with a friend-in-the-know about German waterparks.

The pricing situation is simple. The Germans are widely higher spenders on this kind of facility than, say, us in the UK.

Half of Vildstrøm is not yet open as it is unfinished.

Even that's got more theming than this. ;)

I suppose you are right.

Far superior theming at the latter..!

The problem most waterparks have is maintenance. They tend to have features that work at opening, but wear out and never get repaired.
Splash Landings is a good example, where the splash zones have cannons that no longer squirt, troughs that have no pulling ropes, pumps that have locked up etc.

I would anticipate this will be a waterpark that will take pride in keeping on top of these details, like the rest of Europa Park.

Incidentally, I think Caribe is perfectly fine for an outdoor water park, but to claim it has better theming than Rualantica stretches credibility. Nonetheless, I am glad @siralgenon has finally found a suitable hill to die on!

Quite. I have only been to Caribe once but had a very enjoyable time there!

This looks a fantastic edition to resort. My little ones were jumping around very excitedly watching the walk through. They love the idea of swimming with the Mermaids even if the Mermaids are not in the same pool.

I have stopped trying to compare it with other water parks, or at least other outdoor water parks. From what I can tell the attention to detail and themes exceed all other in-door water parks I have attended and the selection of slides is very impressive.

Hopefully I will get the chance to visit it next year, but until then, I am looking forward to hearing peoples reviews when they attend for New Years Eve.

I’m not saying this is bad. It isn’t.

However, I’m not sure I look at any of those pictures and think “absolutely amazing” either. It looks a bit like a Center Parcs pool at night.

Again, by no means bad, but not the second coming either.

Compare it with the UKs latest water park in Coventry.
Rutlantica looks to be in a different league to te normal indoor park.

I'd love to see Disney build a serious water "theme park" in Paris... for now we have Rutlantica.

Nobody is saying Rulantica is the second coming. However comparing it to a Center Parcs or the slab of mess in Salou is just poor taste and invalid opinion. :kissingheart:

I'm in no way saying PortAventura's Waterpark is the best in the world, nor am I saying Rulantica is the worst, however it does look very much like the Center Parcs ones, especially in the evening, and PortAventura's has some very detailed theming too.

My point is it's no where near as themed as it was originally made out and marketed to be, the same I feel with Kronasar. Not wanting to stray off topic but the lobby concepts of Kronasar looked magical, like something out of Night at the Museum. Now look at it in real life and it's just a white box with 10% of the theming that was originally shown.

For me, Rulantica is the same. Concepts which showed 360 degree world's are only one wall facades or one off structures. I give it to them that the forest area with the pool bar looks lovely, but it's a shame the rest of the park doesn't live up to it. People think I don't like EP, I do, which is why I'd have expected more from this year's new additions, excluding Snorri Touren.

I'm sorry, but having been there, that statement is a load of tosh!
