So, it’s back. Again. But this time, really not as you know it!

So basically you need to forget everything you knew regarding the old rules/format, the only thing that remains the same is drawing and guessing a coaster! Which basically is the old rules/format :p

Anyway, let’s start with the basics, drawing your layout the same principles still apply

* Unique layouts only -
No clones or "off the shelf" models, this includes the originals of any cloned rides, ie. Blue Fire or Batman. Rides that have been demolished or are SBNO are allowed, as are rides under construction (provided accurate plans are available), though unbuilt concepts still remain a no-no.

* No drawing from memory -
Drawings should be traced from aerial photos or actual blueprints. They don't have to be perfect, but the proportions should be as accurate as reasonably possible with MS Paint. (Other, better graphics software is available for free). A scribble of what you think a ride does is not good enough.

* Please avoid drawing freehand -
Use the line tools to avoid that "scribble" look.

* Do not mark the station -
Just a plain black line showing a plan view of the track, no marking of lifthills, launches or brakes!

* Optional extras -
For added difficulty, you may rotate your layout (so up is not necessarily north). This is not compulsory, but it will help make it harder to guess if you think it might be an easy one. If you do rotate it, do not tell people about it. However importantly DO NOT flip, or mirror the image.

Now to really shake up the game, the new format will allow everybody to earn points every single week! Yes. That’s absolutely EVERYBODY... Providing you actually play! ;)

So how is it going to work? Well settle down geeks, is everybody sitting comfortably? Good, then we shall begin!

Each week there will be a category and each week everybody who wishes to play shall draw a coaster from that category. Once drawn, layouts are to be sent to me via PM, I shall then post all the layouts together at the start of the weeks guessing. At this point the same principle applies, all guesses shall not be posted publicly, they will also be sent to me via PM. At the end of the week, I shall post the correct answers along with everybody’s points! So basically, the more people who join in, the more points it’s possible to earn!

Category’s shall be announced on a Friday evening, you will all then have until the cut off, Monday evening at 17:30, to send your layout through. I shall the post the weeks layouts later that very same night (oooo, geek reference). The guessing then begins, again with a cut off for answers being 17:30 on Friday!

So... onto the scoring!

*Playing Along?
Everybody who has submitted a layout, will score 2 points for each correctly guessed coaster.

*Or just spectating?
It is also possible for people who haven’t submitted a layout to guess, however they will only receive 1 point for each correct guess.

*Know your own!
You can not guess your own coaster!

*Slow and Steady wins the race...
You will get one guess only, so don’t rush. I will only accept the first answers I receive.

*All Together Now!
All guesses must be submitted in one go. No guessing one coaster on a Monday and the rest on Friday. I’m trying to limit the PM spam on myself here! However I shall only accept answers from your first message alone! :D

*First Past The Post!
The first person to submit their answers, providing at least one is correct, will earn a bonus point!

*All Correct?
All answers correct, and you shall earn 2 bonus points on your score.

*Quick Fire!
Guessing within the first 24 hours of the layouts being posted and you’ll get 3points for each correct layout.

*Super Quick Fire!
Guessing all layouts correctly within the first 24 hours and you’ll receive a further 5 bonus points on top of your score.

*No layout. No bonus points!
Sorry, but if you haven’t submitted a layout yourself, you are not entitled to any of the bonus points. Come on. Just join in! :D

* Disqualified entries -

If an entry is disqualified for any reason (such as not being unique), it shall simply not be posted and the drawer shall have 1 point docked!

*Random Roller Coaster
At any given point throughout the game I may post a ‘Random Roller Coaster’ this will be a totally random layout not linked to the current category. Guesses on this layout are to be posted in the topic and the first person to guess correctly shall earn 3 points!

So, I don’t know about you lot. But I think it’s about time to get started.

To submit your layout to me simply send the image via PM and tell me what it is and where (This isn’t a guessing game for me too you know!)

I shall then post the layouts along with a number for each to aid guessing.

Then simply send your numbered guesses to me via PM. I’ll need a name and park. I shall acknowledge receipt of your guesses but at no point shall I say whether or not they are correct. That will all come at the end of the week.

No clues will be given at any stage, having categories is a big enough clue as it is!

And so with that, without further a-do. The first category of the 2019/20 Layout Geek League isssssss...

THE UK

There you go a nice easy start, so get cracking. You’ve got until 17:30 on Monday to get your layouts sent in!

Quite the shake up! Great stuff, means those of us who are lesser geeks can have a bit of fun with this too. :)

Glad to see that this closed season tradition has returned with some interesting twists! I look forward to seeing the first layouts; may the geekiest person win!

Come on people, just 20 hours to go to get your layout in. A few in already. Let’s try to get the first round off to a strong start! :D

Well, here we go. I present the first layouts of the 2019/20 League!

So there we have it. A slightly low uptake for the first round, so I’ve thrown an extra one of my own in to bump up the points possibility for the first round to set the ball rolling. Fingers crossed for a better selection next time.

So the lines are open, Europe... Start voti. Sorry. Wrong topic. Get guessing geeks. Remember send all answers via PM to myself with the numbers 1-4, complete with coaster name and location!

As for you MattyH. Sorry but rules is rules. Just the basic points rate for you this time around! ;)

Well. Everybody who submitted a layout got their answers in within 24 hours. What are the rest of you playing at?

Come on people, you could earn a whole 4 points... You might not even be last place! You know you want to ;)

You’ve got until 17:30, Friday!

Well. Here we are, the first results of the new league!

So, the scores for the first round of the 2019/20 league are...

Rob - 15
Burbs - 14
Matt N - 3
Matty H - 2

And there you have it. Rob takes the lead!

And on we move to Round 2:

VEKOMA!!

Everybody’s favourite Glow-Up manufacturer!

Also new on this round, the Rob Bonus!
- If you can guess who drew each layout, it’s an extra point on each for you my friend! :D (For the purposes of this first week I shall not state who posted which layout!)

So, you’ve got until Monday 17:30 to submit your layouts people!

On the count of three everybody say Veeekomaaaaaaa!

Knew I'd forgotten to do something whilst away...

On the other hand part of me doesn't want to damage my geek credentials by revealing I'm actually really bad at guessing obscure Asian coaster layouts that people have somehow drawn perfectly despite there being no plan view available anywhere.
I'm still not entirely convinced #4 is an accurate representation of a UK coaster...
