Good afternoon, and welcome to the announcement of the TS Member Awards 2019 winners! Here we go...

Best Alton Towers Related Topic - New bench by @Log Flume's Dennis
That bright purple bench has been very popular this season indeed, so much so that it wins its own TowersStreet award!

Best Europa-Park Related Topic - What is it that everyone who's visited likes so much about Europa Park? by @Matt N
An excellent question, and quite often a different answer for everyone you ask... but we do just love it so much!

Best "Other" Theme Park Related Topic - Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion by @John
Despite the lack of any new additions, and the temporary closure of Valhalla announced for 2020, Blackpool is still a firm favourite topic of discussion.

Best Non-Theme Park Related Topic - Who Would Do A Better Job of Running Merlin? by @DiogoJ42
With the announcement of Merlin being bought out by the KIRKBI family, the question that has clearly been on everybody's lips is "Who would do a better job of running Merlin?"

Funniest Topic - Vote Slaphead 2019 by @DiogoJ42
A general election - always one to spark some controversy and discussion, but our very own Slaphead had us sorted out!

Fail Topic - The Brexit Thread by @Matt N
As one voter said, "Because Brexit is fail." Having said that, the Climate Change thread was a very close second.

Best Theme Park Simulator Creation - The Haunted House 1992 Recreation by @JSG093
Steaming off into the lead with this one is The Haunted House recreation on Planet Coaster. I'm sure others will agree that it would be great to see some more of this project.

Best Contributor - @Rob

Best Poster - @Rob

Whether it's sharing some wisdom, offering an opinion, being a geek or just generally keeping order on the forum, we can always rely on Rob! It's no surprise that he has been voted for as best poster and best contributor this time around.

Best Newcomer - @Doublethink
It was very close, with Doublethink representing the forum side and Saul the meet-up side, but on this occasion, Doublethink has come out on top!

The John Wardley Appreciation Society Award for Geekiest Member - @John
Taking 50% of the votes, who else could realistically win the geekiest member? Of course, it's John, the Throughput King!

Funniest Member - @Log Flume's Dennis
With an outstanding majority, Log Flume's Dennis has been voted as the funniest member! Perhaps it has something to do with somehow making a topic about a bloody bench and whether a human can run around a roller coaster track...

Most Serious Member - @Dave
Another close one, but Dave wins this time, ostensibly based on his political opinions, debates and general fact checking.

Most Helpful Member - @AstroDan and @Craig
It's a tie! Both Craig, our resident admin and AstroDan, our meet-ups organiser get to share this award between them. Nawww.

Most Optimistic Member - @Matt N

I mean, who else? Congratulations Matt N! Your optimism certainly inspires humour from time to time, as well as a somewhat refreshing outlook on the industry that so many of us moan about!

Most Pessimistic Member - @bluesonichd
With a result almost as close as the Brexit referendum, bluesonichd has pipped Diogo to the post this time! Though it's no surprise with his endless moaning about god knows what. ;)

Best Official Meet - "South Meet" - Chessington, Thorpe Park and Leogland Windsor, May
The best official meet this year was voted as our TS South Meet; the 3-day long-weekender at Chessington, Thorpe and Legoland. It always seems to be the *ahem* not-so-great parks that we have the best time at!

Funniest Moment - "Iss buffet, issss closed"
It may have happened at the back end of 2018, but it was a 2018/19 meet so I shall allow it. Yes, the now infamous "iss buffet, issss closed" meme has won the funniest meet moment!

Meet Fail - The Great Tavern Table Removal (est Nov '19)
You want to sit down to enjoy your Da Luca? Well... the floor it is for you!

The Satch and Simon Award for Biggest Faff Magnet - @Cheese
Once again, Mr Cheese wins the award for biggest faff magnet!

The "Run Run Run, There's Rides To Be Done" Award for Biggest Ride Whore - @Burbs
Yes... that's me, somehow managing to steal the prize from John (seriously? John went to get just one more ride on an SLC while we watched a show). Anyway, thanks.

The #Maaartin Award for Biggest Cheapskate - @Burbs
And me again, it's not a fix, honestly! Despite the fact that some have said it's like I've "won the lottery" over the past year or so due to my relatively overzealous spending. Ah well.

Lateness Award, sponsored by Sam Beaumont - @Sammy
Naturally, Sammy wins back his own award! Although with that being said, an honourable mention must be given to AstroDan, as one voter correctly pointed out that Dan would proceed to push back the meet up time based on his own lateness.

Cutest Couple - @Vik and @pritchardavid
#notacouple (riiiiight) Vik and Dave win the cutest couple award again. So guys, when's the wedding?

Congratulations!
Your winners signatures will be PM'd to you in due course.

A huge thank you to everyone that voted in either or both of the rounds this year! As has been mentioned before, this is the first time we have run the Member Awards since the 2015 season, and it has been really successful. However, please use this thread to feed back to us any comments or suggestions about how the awards have been carried out this time, so that we can make them even better and more accessible to all in the future. This could include the way you submit your votes, the actual awards on offer, or anything else.

would anyone be able to give me the most basic, idiot-proof guide to adding a signature pls? I've added public pics to Flickr but I haven't a clue what to do next

I think signatures only display on the full size website, not on the mobile version. I don't know if they display on TapaTalk.

Finally updated my sig, begrudgingly giving up my long held title. I'd like to congratulate @bluesonichd on being the lineal biggest moaner.
... For this season at least. I'll be back to claim my what is mine next year...

The "Run Run Run, There's Rides To Be Done" Award for Biggest Ride Whore - @Burbs
Yes... that's me, somehow managing to steal the prize from John (seriously? John went to get just one more ride on an SLC while we watched a show). Anyway, thanks.
For the record, I went off to get TWO more rides on an SLC with bonus helix (one of which I was owed from 2012 when they closed it early for no reason) and still got back in time for the show. Most of it anyway.

Look, John. We also got one more in on Raptor before the show... ;)

Hello again...

I have uploaded all the member award signatures to the TS media archive. If any winners from 2019 would like the link to theirs (rather than the shoddily-uploaded ones I sent you all before... apologies) then please don't hesitate to drop me a PM!

Tom
