Blade itself is an unfortunate metaphor in summarizing the past decade under Merlin, in both its name and purpose. Sliding back and forth and 'cutting' everything in its way.

I think the lesson here for us is that we should never trust a so called reversal of cuts.

Not sure where to post this but Chessington are teasing a new ship on Twitter... Could this be Blades new home?

Edit: appears this is already being discussed in the Chessington thread but think this is still appropriate here

Blade is knackered. I'm not sure even Merlin could get away with moving it and call it a new ride :tearsofjoy:

They did actually replace a lot of Blade's components last year, so if it is being removed (which I'm still doubtful as to whether it is), then it's definitely plausible that Chessington could receive it, in my opinion!

Are we forgetting Ripsaw had thousands spent on it only for it to end up dead in a ditch a few months latter
They will probably count blade as a loss, scrap it and claim some sort of tax back from it.

I notice only half of the boat is in that picture

Maybe they have sent half of the ship and one of the drive tyres to Chessington crating two (semi) functional rides

Maybe next season Thorpe can send them one of the swings off Rush

Creating new rides out of nothing. Merlin-level genius. Nick Varney is a god.

Based on the package prices, it looks like the price for most rides will now be £7, except for Rita, Smiler & WM which will remain at £10.

Bronze now looks overpriced to me - £28 for 4 rides, 3 of which typically have short queues, is very poor value. Gold meanwhile looks very underpriced by comparison with silver at just £15 more - given that WM alone would be £10, you effectively get every other ride in the park for just £5. I'd probably charge more like £75 for gold (£30 more than silver is still good value for what you get) and £125 for platinum.

Also, gold and platinum are apparently valid on 16 rides, but only 15 are listed (unless I'm miscounting) - presumably the 16th ride will be Gangsta Granny rather than a returning Blade, which is not mentioned. Presumably as it's not returning.

Was Blade ever a fastrack ride? There is no Fastrack entrance is there? And the way the exit is designed with that prison turnstile you wouldn't be able to use that either.

Not sure, the exit is used for RAP but I hardly ever rode blade and never bought fastrack so never really thought about it.

Why is Rita Fastrack £10, out of interest? I can see Smiler and Wicker, as they are the two newest coasters and have the highest guest demand, but Rita seems a little odd.

Oops, I completely made up Rita at £10, partially as that what I thought they should charge for it. In reality, whilst Galactica had VR, fastrack for it was £10. This was reduced to £6 when VR was removed. At the same time, Galactica replaced Rita on the bronze package, but rather than double the price of Rita FT they increased every ride by £1. I'd just got the price changes and swapping of rides on the bronze package confused.

The price of silver is (probably) based on: Nemesis/Galactica/Oblivion/Thirteen/Rita @ £7 each + Smiler @ £10 = £45

Ah right. Thanks for the clarification @John; thought it seemed a bit odd!
