Flamingo Land: General Discussion

It's down as being grey in the planning application. Popular planning-friendly colour in the UK as it blends in with our typically overcast skies.

Went for a spin up this afternoon to snap a few pictures.

It seems there's currently just two sections painted grey, and at least one support. I wonder if those pieces needed inspecting? You can kinda see the grey piece, shown in the parks post, in the bottom left near the left leg of the inline support. Along with the other piece, along with its painted support on the right in the exit of the first corkscrew.

(I also love how close the loop supports are to each other)

They haven't got the cobra roll in yet but they do have the entrance and exit in

Interestingly, there was also a section and support of Velocity painted in the same grey. I hope they're not planning on doing the whole thing that colour, because in person it's the blandest grey imaginable. It's so unremarkable in its plainness that it's become remarkable.

I guess it’s an easy thing to skip over if, for example, costs ran over, or disruptions occurred that impacted the end deadline.

You could open the ride without it’s final coat of paint if push came to shove. You can’t open a newly-painted coaster with an incomplete track where you couldn’t afford to finish the construction.

Trains have now arrived. They'll look pretty sleek on the grey colour scheme, but not that ghastly red and yellow one...

You say trains plural, do we know for sure that both have ended up at Flamingo Land? :p

To be fair, when I went the other week the RCS trucks were all parked up together in the car park while some other crane was on site moving some steel shuttering into the tunnel/dip after the cobra roll. Looks like it wasn't too serious though, they were cracking on the other day, even in the wind

Construction update courtesy of TPWW. Also note that some of the track is being painted gold (yes, gold, as well as grey) and Velocity's supports are being painted grey. Wonder why this is? Could it all tie in somehow?
