Alton Towers Oktoberfest 2020

Worth noting that opening hours for October are nowhere near confirmed at present. The event has appeared on the website with no information bar the dates so far, don't stress over published opening times yet!

Just an observation, but the Oktoberfest logo is a variation of the ‘old’ logo. Either it will get updated or the 40th anniversary variant is just temporary - which is a shame as I’m fond of it!

(Or its just laziness/lack of communication... probably this)

I think, what we will see here is:

  • Extended whole park hours to 6.00pm on the weekend dates in question
  • A tent somewhere (on the lawns?) along with extra entertainment plus decorations on Towers Street & Mutiny Bay which opens from sometime around noon
  • Extended hours in Mutiny Bay attractions (excl. Sea Life) to 9.00pm on Saturday evenings (e.g. Heave Ho, Marauders, Wicker Man)
  • New Oktoberfest soundtrack on Towers Street
Great news. It is high time someone at ATR pulled their finger out and tried something new.

In a way, it isn’t surprising. Events at AT generated serious revenue and guest increases. I’d go as far to say, they saved the park in its darkest days back in 2015. I’m not surprised they’ve chosen to do more events, although I am surprised it took this long to realise the potential.

The onus is now on them to deliver, and the guests/fans to visit, to guarantee this as a success and a future event. Who knows, if this is a success, we could be looking at new events for Easter, an expanded Christmas event, etc.

Get punters plastered so they can't drive home and have to stay in the she.....I mean excellent star gazing pods. Genius

I think they will have to regulate the amount of alcohol consumed or there will be disorderly behaviour which they would rather not have to deal with.

idk - the last time Towers invested in something German it didn't go particularly well...
This post is massively underated. Jokes aside though whilst I understand why you say this, the smiler is arguably one of the parks most successful investments ever. Regardless of the incident, the ride opens less than a year later and still gets the longest queues. Wicker man only in its 2nd season and still the smiler has biggest queues. Whilst it did damage revenue and reputation somewhat, it's still brought in the crowds year on year

After a recent bar crawl and club trip to Budapest, I'm sure no matter what the prices are at this event they will seem horrifying to me. Beer (even their craft beer) and shots and pretty much everything else with the word alcohol in it there is dirt cheap compared to our prices :(
I'll wager a stein that they won't sell steins.
It'll be in plastic cups most likely given Merlin's approach, if even that.
