I previously suggested that it might be a good idea for Alton Towers to install hand sanitizer dispenses for guests to use in the wake of coronavirus. The government are telling people to wash their hands frequently with soap and hot water. So maybe it would be a good idea for Alton Towers to finally look at solving the problem of nearly all toilets across the park having only ice cold water?
Thorpe Park have had santiser dispensers everywhere so I don't understand why the other parks don't have them.

I decided to ask Alton Towers on Twitter about this. They refused to comment on the supply of hot water but did say that there will be increased availability of hand sanitisation products.

Should ask them if the park is even going to be open

Walk into a freezing toilet block, sit on a freezing toilet seat*, wash your hands in cold water. Top notch experience.

*Possibility of slightly warming due to friction when wiping the seat with tissue beforehand, speed is key.
*Not applicable to ladies as they squat.

If you have hot water installed then you are obliged to keep it at a certain temperature and to record and monitor said temperatures

No hot water. No checks to do.

Money saving

I thought it was law to supply hot / warm water? It certainly is for employers to supply it for their employees.

There is a page on the Alton website about this now: https://www.altontowers.com/plan-your-visit/coronavirus/

It does say they’ve added more hand sanitisers across the park.

You’ll also find the same page on all the other Merlin theme park websites.

Etc

We ask all our guests to observe high standards of personal hygiene whilst visiting Alton Towers Resort. There are simple things you can do to help prevent the spread of the virus, including:
  • Covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • Putting used tissues in the bin immediately
  • Washing your hands with soap and hot water regularly, and using hand sanitiser gel
  • Trying to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.
So good news there will be hot water available

"If you do feel unwell during your visit, please contact a member of staff immediately – maintaining a safe distance of two metres where possible"

I can tell you know, that won't be possible, from personal experience, trying to preserve my (and Jess's) personal space (which is 3ft, arms length) which people have no sense of personal space is bad enough as it is, let alone keeping and maintaining a safe distance of two metres (6ft), good luck with that one ('m aware that the two meter distance is from the Alton and not from you bluesonichd)

That 2 metre request is pointless though, if you feel ill then you’d of been ill when you arrived at the park.

For example you go on Oblivion, the queue line you are stood right next to people. Then on the ride staff doing restraint checks are closer than 2 metre and the people either side of you are right next to you.
