Just out of interest does anyone know someone 1st hand who has contracted the virus?

I've most probably got it. I started the beginning of the week with a very high fever and a pulsing headache and it got worse with Wednesday being the worst. Every time I eat it seems to cause my symptoms to flair. I also had an anxiety attack when I first started showing symptoms due to a lot of the bad coverage, yet very few positive stories. This definitely added to my symptoms.

The shortness of breath and the fever hit me hard. I also couldn't believe how I was taking massive breaths in but they didn't even seem to register that I had breathed. The good news is that they seem to come in waves rather than being constant so there was a little respite.

I'm starting to feel a lot more human today and managed my first brief trip into the garden. Today has also been the first day I haven't taken paracetamol.

I'm now stuck in our guest room for another 3 days, separated from my girlfriend and our cats. We have a schedule for getting around and contact each through phone calls and messenger but it's a ball ache. Especially having to clean everything I touch.

All in all, it's been horrible but I reckon I'm in the mild category, luckily I never developed a bad cough. One stand out thing for me is that I'm drinking roughly 8-10 litres of water a day.

Just wanted to share that it can be relatively ok in a media world that only seems to be focusing on the negative.

All sporting events cancelled but live boxing can be seen at Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, Sainsburys, and Asda o_O

Mate don't get me started on the f ing supermarkets/selfish hoarders.
Some of the pictures I've seen and the NHS worker tearful after finishing a shift and finding nothing because of the shelves being empty....Shame on them all, most probably some on here have done it, shame on you.
I have an elderly nan and grandad, my granddad has dementia so getting to a supermarket quick enough to get anything is near on impossible. This "Elderly hour" the supermarkets are doing is a joke, you still have f ing fit able bodies a lot younger still in the f ing queue....

Called in my local Sainsbury’s after work yesterday around 6pm to get food for dinner.
There was nothing. No milk, meat, eggs, bread, flour, pasta, tuna , soup

They had some fresh bread rolls they baked, got a packet of corned beef and a packet of biscuits

Very healthy

I did think of just dumping the trolly and leaving as thought what’s the point. There’s nothing here. It’s soo depressing.

Just nip over the road to McDs

But that was rammed with kids inside queuing to buy food so :mask:

They say don’t panic there’s enough for everyone ...

There is no disruption in the food supply chain and there won't be, there is plenty of food, no need to panic or stock up.

Just stupid sheep like people stripping the shelf's, this virus won't kill people, just hunger.

A friend of mine who lives in China, said the same thing happened over there a few weeks ago, plenty of panic buying stripping the shelf's of everything, unlike us where the vegan food was left, he said that any the British type of food was left to last which was great for him. All the panic buying didn't last long and shopping has gone back to normal so hopefully, some light at the end of the tunnel for us with regards to shopping.

At some point, people are going to run out of money or space to continue to stockpile.

PLEASE STOP PANIC BUYING AND STOCK PILING! Please pass this message on to the idiots

Hey all - after two days of further rest I feel back no 90% today

Throat and cough still persist as does the tiredness - but let’s face it there is plenty of time to sleep.

I’ve just finished my 7 days and been to the shops - what has happened to the world?

I’ve worked for one of the Big Four retailers since September 2013. In all my time, I have NEVER seen the shelves this empty. Not even at Christmas. Very little in the way of fresh meat still left. Shelves are being stripped bare within 15-20 minutes of them being filled up. Countless bays are completely empty. There’s literally nothing in the warehouse that’ll go out - everything that comes in goes straight onto the shelves. We’ve even had people taking stuff off pallet boards and roll cages before it’s even made its way onto the shelves! We’re struggling to even get the basics in at home due to everyone else’s selfishness at hoarding everything, and we tend to keep a fairly well-stocked store cupboard, fridge and freezer anyway! Think we may need a bit more wine at home if we can get hold of anything half-decent, though. :p I mainly work in the petrol station, and we’re having some deliveries stopped to help free the supply chain up. We close petrol at 22:30 from Monday to Saturday. Our last customer yesterday came through at 21:42. Ridiculously quiet.

Please, please, PLEASE be nice to retail staff. Now more than ever. They’re working their backsides off to try and fill the shelves and meet the completely insane and unnecessary demand. If there isn’t something on the shelf, then it almost certainly isn’t hiding in the back. It’s just being sold that quickly. To anyone who works in retail and sees this message, I say this. Thank you for continuing to work during these very challenging times. You are doing the absolute best job you can to keep this country running. Keep on going. There’s light at the end of this long, dark tunnel.

People are getting around the 4 items rule by multi shop buying. Getting 4 of the same from all they local supermarkets.

I thought if you had it was 14 days isolation

I may be wrong. o_O

Good to hear you are not dead tho

When people start queuing outside supermarkets they should just send the police or army in and disband them.
Knock some sense into the greedy idiots

Or genuinely hungry people with nothing to eat because they haven't stockpiled and there's been nothing for them later in the day for the last few days? You know the circumstances of these greedy idiots, do you?
No, so be nice.

I reckon almost noone has done any meaningful stockpiling.

There's a legitimate fear supplies will be disrupted because of the virus, so loads of people have done their shopping in a short period of time. Entirely understandable and doesn't make them selfish idiots as half the people here and on all social media, who've almost certainly and quite innocently done the same thing want to call them.

No system is designed with enough spare capacity to deal with everyone wanting everything all at once. This is a pretty much unavoidable situation in such unpredicted circumstances.

As according to NHS website

How long to stay at home
  • if you have symptoms of coronavirus, you'll need to stay at home for 7 days
  • if you live with someone who has symptoms, you'll need to stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person in the home started having symptoms
If you live with someone who is 70 or over, has a long-term condition, is pregnant or has a weakened immune system, try to find somewhere else for them to stay for 14 days.

Feel 1% better now
Lol IF I’ve had it - and believe me I’ve not been tested I can say it will make you poorly for about 2 days after that it’s manageable- just annoying

Here's a really interesting article I found in the Guardian about what life in China is like at the moment, and it does make for pretty positive reading, from my perspective: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...o-normal-as-the-epidemic-subsides-coronavirus
Even though Wuhan is still in lockdown, most other cities are now open again, even in the surrounding Hubei province. Add to that the fact that China has seen no new domestic cases for the last few days, and I'd say they've seen the worst of it now.
