update from the HSE, give no figs about gas safe engineers o_O
Must keep the tenants safe, even sending gas engineers into their homes. :(

stay home save lives...

maybe I should start charging danger money

HSE
"We are keen to highlight that, as set out below, landlords are legally responsible for the safety of their properties and have a duty of care to their tenants, as stated in Regulation 36 of The Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998. This means that registered gas engineers are not responsible for Landlord Gas Safety Checks being in place or up to date."

I think it is quite right that the Prime Minister, the person in charge of our response to this pandemic, is tested after showing symptoms. Especially when you consider how many interactions he is likely to have had with other important figures over the past couple of weeks, not least the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientific Advisor.

I fully agree and don't deny that those at the top should be tested, but I find it hypocritical that they have been telling the nation and our front line nurses who will be very vulnerable to catching the virus and spreading it to other patients that testing is unnecessary.

Testing the cabinet really undermines their argument for not testing the nation and our nurses.

Went to the corner shop as they are the only place in town with loo roll. A 9 pack of the stuff, 2 bottles of beer, 2 cartons of juice and a pack of biscuits came to £39.
Won't be shopping there again.

Said shop was filled with middle aged mothers shouting at the price of cider.

I'm sure that it is against the law for companies to profiteer on the back of the outbreak

It takes a week for symptoms to show, most of the cases reported now will be from people who were still out and about over a week ago. It will take another week until the results of isolating really show.

That's why the government advice to isolate when showing covid-19 symptoms is flawed. By then, you have already spread the virus around. Remember, they are going by the science

By the look how busy it is outside our home, plenty of kids playing, families going for walks, I've never seen it so busy down our road, I don't think the people around here get the lock-down thin'y, seems more like every one is enjoying a good holiday. I'm sure if this continues, more lock-down restrictions will be put in place

well the advice is now to keep 2m away from everyone so that’s why cases should start coming down in a week or two

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8160767/Former-police-chief-says-officers-fire-tasers-people-ignore-coronavirus-lockdown.html

This is the chap we need in charge

'If they don't comply, fire baton rounds at them because we're talking about thousands dying': Outspoken former police chief says officers should be able fire tasers and baton rounds if people fail to comply with coronavirus lockdown

Kevin Hurley, who held senior positions at the Met and City of London Police, made the suggestion during an interview with Iain Dale on LBC radio on Thursday.

He claimed officers should be able to shoot people with electric tazers or baton rounds who flout new rules saying they should avoid going out for non-essential reasons.

In the astonishing outburst, the retired policeman started by saying Britain's bobbies should follow the example of India's paramilitary police, who routinely beat suspects with long sticks.

He said: 'I'm moved by what I'm seeing in India where police are literally beating anyone on the street with long sticks.

'Now this may sound absurd, but my experiences with dealing with the street in London, you can't even properly police many of the estates.

'I think we're talking about warning people, potentially issuing them a fine.

'If they don't comply, because you don't want to touch them [and become infected] taser them on the spot.

'If they still don't comply, fire baton rounds at them.

So how come Italy still has an increase in infections four weeks after social distancing and isolation started? Surely if your theory is right, the rate of infection should be levelling out, not increasing like it is?

Italy's infection rate is flattening out, It's not rising? It's still a big number infected each day, but it is flattening out.

Because I also like my freedom and the police having these powers to stop you for no reason other than they want to as in their eyes everyone is a criminal

We have done nothing wrong, but we are all criminals now.,

go out, to shop for food,. get stop and questioned and justify why you are out

go out to exercise, get stop and questioned and justify why you are out

:(

police using drones to spy on everyone

:(

Mate. Sort your head out. Do you actually believe this sort of crap you are spouting?

'as in their eyes everyone is a criminal' - how on earth is this your starting point? That is not the view of any police officer ever. Like all police interaction, if you are doing nothing wrong it'll be a few seconds of conversation and you both go your separate ways. The thought process of a sane or innocent person is 'am glad the police are doing that to keep everyone safe'.

'we have done nothing wrong but we are all criminals now'. Just what? How does being asked the purpose of your journey make you a criminal. Unless of course you are breaking the law...

'police using drones to spy on everyone'. Nope, to observe, quite openly people breaking the new laws. Laws which exist for your safety. Not great spy's if they post it on Facebook, are they?

Right now you don't have your freedom, no one does, a huge percentage don't across the entire world. It's the government who have done this, quite correctly, not the police. Suck it up like a big boy and we'll all get through it. Fight against it, including the enforcement of it, and people will die.

All that is being asked of you is you stay at home as much as possible. You're not being conscripted, not being made to fight, you are being asked to sit on your arse for a bit and you can't manage that without bitching about it at every opportunity. In the mean time I'll be out checking compliance, putting myself directly in harm's way to keep you safe from the worst in society who will use this as a cover to commit crime as our resources are stretched. Two people have been charged with assault on police today for coughing on officers deliberately while stating they had the virus. Hopefully at the end of my shift I get to go home to my family, hopefully not to infect them.

Poor old you, having to account for your actions once in a while.

Yeah and they've only been in full lockdown for two weeks not four, so I guess we will see in two weeks.

A encounter with an officer today to add to the @pluk post

I had a police car follow me into work, and parked up behind me. The conversation went a bit like this.

Me. Morning officer
PO. Morning sir, can i ask why you are about at this time (0600) in the morning
Me. I am a caretaker here ( education site) and i am starting my working day. Here my works ID ( shows ID at arms length)
PO. Thank you, so what will you be up to today.
Me. Unlocking a building for teaching. Then getting on with a job in an empty building and hope i don't get a assistance call.
PO. Sounds like a good plan. Have a good day.
Me. I hope you have a safe shift.

Police officer gets in car and drives off.

Wet markets were banned post SARS. However they have crept back in over recent years. Part of the problem with wet markets, isn't so much places like Wuhan, Beijing, Shanghai, etc.. It's the more rural areas where people will barter or live off the land. Rather than restrict these people and have a mass starvation on their hands, the Chinese governments started turning a blind eye to wet markets and they started popping up across china again.

Nothing wrong with eating bats as such, the aborigines have done this for years without taking out a portion the population. (Although apparently bats need more gaarrrlic!)

Of course wet markets will be banned again but it's not the animals that are exact issue. It's the cross contamination and the way the animals stored. Simply put every restaurant that scores a 1 on the hygiene rating in the UK is probably a 5 in comparison.

@delta79 and you didn't feel like a criminal? Amazing!

Interesting, how would you react to this then?

Me: Morning Officer.
PC: What are you doing?
Me: I don't have a garden nor a park close by so I have walked to this field I have permission to use, to get a bit of exercise away from society, I'm going to let my son run around for half hour and burn off some energy while I walk round the perimeter and check the fencing, then we will leave and go to the co-op and get some Milk, and then we will return home.
@pluk put your response here please.

I don't speak for all police officers.
Whatd do you think a police officers response would be?
