I suppose from a religious point of view, stuffing your face with chocolate eggs at Easter is essential.
I am not qualified to answer that!

I was wondering if 'essential' was actually pitched on a 'don't take more than what is essential' basis, as very few product lines would be essential, really.

The thing is, I think we all still need to live as normal life as we can under the conditions and try to have fun. If you live as a family then why not get Easter eggs and do an Easter Egg hunt in your house or garden.

I get the whole "don't make unnecessary journeys" point, but if you're already in the shop getting other things then why not? Just don't travel solely to get Easter Eggs!

Exactly! There is zero harm in someone adding a couple of Easter eggs to their weekly shop.

Should you be going shopping just for a couple of Easter Eggs? Absolutely not, it's obviously not within any definition of essential.
If you are doing a grocery shop for essentials and pick up Easter Eggs is there anything wrong with that? Absolutely not, obviously.

It's the same as anything really, Sainsbury's will still sell you a resin cat tealight holder if you want one while you are there, but if you are going out just to buy that it is clearly wrong. And not only because of Coronavirus restrictions. :tearsofjoy:

Sorry lads, but I am absolutely going to purchase and then eat several Easter Eggs. I might even hide them round the flat, attempt to forget where they are and then find them again. It is literally all I have to look forward to right now.

The cause of the virus was completely preventable. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest putting measures in place to ensure it doesn't happen again.

That's not what people are saying though, is it? Saying you're never importing things from there again and blaming people for living their lives. Banning wet markets is a great idea, but the rural areas of china don't have the internet, or high-class education. The people there are doing what they've always done, in the way they've always done it. Mass condemnation isn't the way forward, mass education is.

This attitude is destructive in other ways too; my 80 year old grandmother-in-law is taking it very seriously, not going out, her carer is taking every possible precaution etc., and she's a very wise lady with not a racist bone in her body, but she refuses to get a chinese takeaway to "punish" them for the virus. People that probably haven't even been to china in the last 5 years!

If it turned out that going to the pub caused a virus, do you honestly believe that someone in the middle of nowhere, deepest rural britain, that only got electricity in the '50s, is going to know or care that they shouldn't go to the pub?

By all means criticise the government, but remember that china is full of people just like us too.

I am surprised there has not been a cry of 'a the government are attacking our Christian way of life.' Then some racist comments about other religions that don't originate from the uk.

The Good News is that Jess and I purchased all our Easter eggs before this virus hit the UK when the eggs were on offer. We paid .75p each for ours, yes we are skinflints.

The Bad News is that we are not allowed to meet up with family to exchange them.

Forgive me for I have sined... I bought Easter Eggs yesterday.

As part of my normal shop, and it felt like I was doing Sainsbury's a favour. They were so cheap they were almost giving them away (by which I mean they were the same price as buying the same amount of regular chocolate). I couldn't turn down an offer like that.

It’s interesting how people who loudly claim ‘this is a Christian country’ often act in a manner that many Christians would describe as being completely un-Christian.

We have eaten about a dozen easter eggs of different sizes, so far.
Plus a few bags of mini eggs.
Oh, and a box of five cream eggs.

I usually wait until they are all being sold off cheap after easter.

You watch: tomorrow people will be panic buying easter eggs and chocolate.

Yep, and there should be a bumper crop this year with less people going to see grandkids etc. The big supermarkets would have already had a load of their stock ordered or even in their warehouses before XMAS so there will probably be a load left over. Rich pickings!
This really isn't going to help me trying to maintain my current weight, given I can't go to the gym and exercise is limited. But sod it. :p

The only exercise you need is lifting beer to your gob.
I see you been out to stock up @DiogoJ42
