What changes to operations should we expect post Covid-19?

It’ll be interesting what happens with scare mazes as social distancing will become a habit for people I think. Could we see paid open scare zones as people opt to avoid enclosed spaces?

I think it’s very safe to say that Project 42 won’t return this year (at least not in a similar form at all) with the virus and antidote storyline...imagine the headlines!

Even when the parks are able to open, they're going to need implement whatever new guidelines the government lay down, employ new staff, train them etc..

Although the lockdown may well be over by June / July, there will no doubt be social restrictions for months after. It may well be not worth them opening at all this year if they miss the busy summer period and only have a couple of months to retrieve the season.

Whenever they reopen though, operations are going to be dire.
 
I think Scarefest and the fireworks will be scrapped or low limited numbers as they talking about banning big mass gatherings to next year as the 1m rule still will be in place even when we go back to work. The pubs will be reopened but for families only and they will have waiter/waitress service and they will have bigger gaps between each tables to keep the 1m rule. If the park is able to open the hotels again but will new rules in place I could see a Scarefest event working in there with guests getting time slots for each attraction and a mini firework display.
 
I guess it will depend on the herd immunity of the UK population. That's why testing is so important. Until we get a decent percentage or a vaccine I can't see theme parks, football stadiums etc opening although maybe some smaller gatherings like pubs and visiting family might be allowed.
 
^Exactly, herd immunity or a vaccine is how we're going to overcome this. It's about 60% for herd immunity I believe but don't quote me on that. And as you say, herd immunity can only be determined by extensive testing.

just as likely to catch something at the pub as you are at a football match. That’s one of the reasons why government was reluctant to do football behind closed doors, as people would watch in the pub instead. 50 people in a group in the pub is the same as being close to 50 people in a football stand. It’s the ambulance resources and likelihood of other incidents leading from football and similar that are the issue.
 
I'm sure they'll be some short term processes put in place at Towers once it opens and it will be awful like it will be in any public attraction that reopens.

But trust me, once restrictions are completely lifted, there will be no long term impact on the behaviour of the general public. As a supermarket manager, I've seen this right through from the start of the panic buying to lock down, to the current phase we're now in.

Despite advice being very clear for weeks now (how could it be any clearer, it's everywhere you look!), people are still shopping in groups as if it's a family day out. They're still bringing the hubby, the wife and nan with them for their "essential" trips. They're still brushing past each other, reaching over one another, crowding into the same aisles. They're still opening their wallets full of debit cards and paying by cash. They're still touching everything, picking things up they don't need and dumping it everywhere. They're still approaching staff within inches of their faces. Some are even doing these things whilst wearing virtually useless masks and gloves. They're coming out to buy hot coffee and getting the car washed, even queueing up to pop in for a leisurely browse without buying anything.

The behaviour has been a lot more respectful since lock down - before lockdown many were being grotesque and even violent.

But from what I've seen, I think a huge proportion of the public have learnt nothing from this. Some of the advice is being followed because it has to be, anything that is harder to enforce is being flouted every second of the day. Although I suspect most of this is subconscious habitual stuff rather than a lack of respect.

But I have no doubt that once restrictions are lifted, everything will return to normal. Personal hygiene will go back to how it was before, humans will go back to bustling around breathing down each others necks and many people who currently have the luxury of being able to go through lock down sat at home with their feet up on a pension or with 80% pay will go back to seeing retail workers and cleaners, who are still working right through, as the scum of the earth like they did before.

Regarding the whole social distancing thing, in my personal experience in retail, it's incredibly difficult to maintain a 2m distance from anyone else. When I've done bits in the main store before heading over to petrol, queues have meant it's been hard to put stock out at the aisle end closest to the tills. I've also occasionally had people leaning over me to get an item they're after, which is just infuriating.
 
It is possible (in most cases) but it requires patience and also not being on automatic pilot. You have to consciously be aware of your surroundings and make the effort to let people have their space to pass through any given area. It would also help if the limits on the amounts of customers allowed in store at one time is kept low. I feel that to keep queues lower outside stores some who are policing the queues are allowing too many through. This comes from someone who also works in a large grocery retail store full-time. Most people are making some sort of effort but it's like some people have not seen the news for the last 2 months.
 
I don't think a lot will change once its all over. Lots of people already struggling to follow the rules now and it's been 2 weeks.

Life will get going again and the 9-5 regime will start to feel the norm again after a few weeks and we will be back to normal.
 
Once the parks reopen, there will be a lot of arguments about social distancing, with people unhappy other parties are too close to the for a while.

Areas of the cattlepen's unused since year #1 of rides will suddenly be needed, as people stay distanced from others, not through policy, but people will have become used to spacing themselves.
Throughput will drop because people don't want to be too close, even on the platforms.

Merlin will make back their missing income with a range of £4.99 mini hand sanitisers, themed to each ride that people start collecting.

Sales of shared F&B offerings like all day cups and buffets will drop off, as people see the risk of contamination as unattractive.
 
I can see the fencing company getting the tools warmed up... They will have to convert those cattle pens so space is made between each row.

If distancing measures are still in place causing that sort of adjustment, the parks won't be allowed to open. People are often much closer together in a Pub, so I think either all leisure activies (pubs, theme parks, theatres) will open together with business broadly back to normal.
 
This surely an end to the straggling VR on Galactica (and VR in other parks) at least for a good while.

The gardens and Towers could potentially reopen on display of an SMDC valid ID.

We could see very reduced openings at the start with only a certain number of people allowed in queue lines to efficiently distance from one and another.
 
I wouldn't worry, VR on Galactica is long gone anyway. It was removed for the start of last season.
