:( Towers hate me

Someone online suggested I take it to a random clothes shop with my receipt

Now apart from they are all shut

Or a big supermarket that does cloths ..

 The reaction setting the alarms off getting in. Explaining, while social distancing

Merchandise has definitely gone downhill in the past few years. It used to be one of the few things about the Resort that remained truly world class.

It is now quantity over quality.

I dunno, I generally refuse any ride/park clothing (personal choice) and that Smiler chevron jumper is very likely coming home at some point.

The fact that parts of Blade are scattered around the place does suggest that the current plan is for it to return. A lot of money has been spent on it over the last year or so, and that money was intended to go further than it has done so far.

Of course there is every chance that they put it all back together, start testing and it decides to go kaput again. Or it may open for a month and break. Or it could last the whole season. I don't think even Alton Towers know what is going to happen with it yet!
At this rate it'll probably last the whole season....

I'm the same - I have a Wickerman hoodie and that's all. If I'm gonna buy merch I tend to wear it to the parks rather than out and about unless it's chilly. But I do love the chevron designs - quite glad I'm dyeing my hair back to its natural colour so I can get both the Smiler jumper and Oblivion top without worrying about colour clashes haha!

Only issues I have with the jumpers are, like the T-shirt’s, are made of polyester.
So can get very sweaty Betty and constant static electric shocks from everything
Would love them to have 100% cotton ones available

I only tend to buy park clothing if it's quite subtle or I like the design. For example, I quite like the plain black t-shirts with just the logo on, and I do also own one of the black Wicker Man t-shirts with the runes on it. I must admit I don't tend to wear them very often, however.

I only tend to go for quite subtle clothing on the whole, however.

Is it true that schools aren't opening again now until September, which means when we come out of lockdown in june the parks gonna be packed for the next 3 months

Not necessarily; the government reckons the disease could plateau within the next week to 10 days, and the lockdown could be removed by the end of May. I could potentially see schools opening in June if this is the case.

Schools definitely aren’t reopening. Even after lockdown is lifted (which won’t be until the end of May at the earliest imo), large gatherings will be advised against with social distancing measures in place so they wouldn’t be able to open.

This also means that theme parks wouldn’t be able to open for the foreseeable future unless they had ridiculous measures in place (limiting capacity, one person per row on a ride etc.).

Even then, it’s unfeasible for them to open without the ability to limit the distance between ride ops and guests.

Unless there’s a dramatic change in the next few months, I don’t see how the parks can open until September or October

Everything is conjecture at this point. Until we start testing people and know what kind of herd immunity we have we won't be able to get back to normal.

Apparently, the government wants to revert to a strategy with more emphasis on testing and less emphasis on social distancing in the long term; many officials have insisted that lockdown is only a placeholder to buy us time.

The whole social distancing and lock down is there to reduce the strain on the NHS and the number of deaths at the moment. I'm sure once we see through this expected peak, restrictions may relax a little once the NHS can manage numbers more easily.

It's anyone's guess on what will happen. Personally I'm expecting restrictions to be relaxed the end of May/start of June, and to come back into place after the summer holidays if cases start to rise exponentially again.

I imagine if we have a period where things relax in the summer, all UK parks will reopen and operate under relaxed restrictions.

And for all we know, the NHS may well be more prepared for a second wave through means like more rigorous testing and more ventilators, so we may not even need the severe restrictions even if cases do rise again.

The lockdown should only be taking place in areas that it's affecting the most such as London and Birmingham. Why should the rest of the country economically have to suffer when they don't have many cases. I live in Derby and there's currently 160 cases out of a population of around 200,000, so why do we even need to isolate it's stupid.

Because those 160 people can go out in the streets and pass it on to more people who pass it on again and again. It’s simple really.

The measures in place now should’ve been implemented a lot earlier really. Events like Cheltenham and football matches should have never gone ahead
