Just a reminder this is a General topic for Alton Towers, please keep on topic as we seem to be duplicating discussion across the forum.

For those who wish to discuss Coronavirus, including the government's response etc please use the dedicated topic in Corner Coffee.

40th anniversary merchandise has been added to the online shop.

Gotta say it’s pretty disappointing. Just the new logo slapped on bog standard mugs, notepads and t-shirts.

Thorpe Park did some good looking merchandise for their 40th using old logos etc. Towers should have done the same.

I would have to agree, it's nice to see some 40th anniversary merch and I love the new towers logo. But the mug looks like it's been ordered of Ebay. I would have loved to see some retro logo mugs / ride mugs, like Corkscrew, Black Hole etc

On another matter, what is your day plan whenever you visit Alton towers? Do you do the rides in a certain order and how many rides do you usually get on in a day?

No matter what we think of the way Merlin do things and what state their parks are in, the way things are at the minute I can't help thinking you don't know what you've got until it's gone.

It WAS better than nothing.
Maybe this whole ordeal might bring about a newfound appreciation for the parks and what they have on offer?

Usually it is best to go to the back of the park and work forwards, everyone goes to Wicker Man, Spinball Whizzer or the Smiler at the start of the day while Nemesis, Galactica, Rita and Th13teen usually don't have a queue for the first hour or two.

We go Rita and Thirteen first, quick go on Hex, then to the Rapids because they open at 11, then to Duel, then Nemesis and Galactica, eat lunch in the queue for Wickerman, Spinball Whizzer, Smiler and Oblivion, then time permitting we pick a reride each. My sister's choice tends to be Galactica or Wickerman, mine is normally Thirteen or Wickerman. But we ride from 10am til queues close, so we just reride til it's time to go (and I inevitably fall asleep in the car coming home).

Usually along the lines of:
Postman Pat's Parcel Post
Num Tums
Charlie & Lola
In the Night Garden Boat Ride
Peter Rabbit's Hippity Hop
Go Jetters
Watch a show
Octonauts
Welcom-Inn (lunch)
Sharkbait Reef
Mine Train (Queue Dependent)
Sky Ride
Frog Hopper
Carousel
Driving School
Sky Ride
Go Jetters
Furchester Hotel
Postman Pat's Parcel Post
....and home :flushed:

Wasn't the last TS meet:
  1. Drinks at Welcom-inn
  2. Lunch and drinks at Welcom-inn
  3. Drinks in Dragon Bar
I think the Fireworks routine is usually as follows. With a hip flask or two thrown in somewhere. :p
  1. Couple of rides in the morning.
  2. Drinks in the Welcom-Inn.
  3. Lunch and drinks on resort.
  4. Check-in to accommodation.
  5. More drinks on resort.
  6. Head back to the park for the fireworks and more drinks.
  7. Few more rides to finish off.
  8. Back to the hotels for even more drinks.
