Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

I must admit, I don't really enjoy Steeplechase, personally, but I would like to see it stay as it's the only one in the world; unique rides like it are what make Blackpool Pleasure Beach what it is!

Looking at the new S&S models, I think it could be much cheaper to retrofit the new restraints/bodies on the old chassis instead of replacing the whole thing.

I'd love to see all 3 lanes running more often, just because it looks cool. It's such an odd ride!

Has anyone been in Ripley's recently? I don't think I have been in since maybe 2003 or so.

Steeplechase is a right laugh, i hope it's going nowhere.

However, in these health and safety conscious times it's not the most accesible ride, i've done myself in a few times getting on and off the horses, i saw a ride operator get clobbered by one last year as well when it braked late.

Has anyone seen the Online Pleasure Beach Shop. They've reduced the selling of the gold mine carts by £150 so now you can get a gold mine cart for £100 or a monorail train for the same price.

Yikes, was the op ok? The horses move surprisingly fast in the station.

I think it opened back in 1971? I always used to like the interaction with River Caves. Sorry that you missed out on it mate. You planning on getting anything else or nah?
I think it’d have been a very rash purchase! Collecting it and storing it would have been tricky. And that’s before getting it past the other half.

I think around 1985 three generations of my family would have been riding it at the same time. It was the only ride I remember we all went on together.

I got the nod from the other half , but after taking a look at the measurements, I couldn't have got it into the back garden. Also it would have been extra cost to get it transported.

Shame as it was only £90 with my season pass discount .

My only hesitation with the Gold Mine cars is they look pretty battered and don't have much of a chassis?

Would be cool though, no doubt. I can't say anything really... the junk I have bought over the years.

This. They don’t exactly look stable. Was considering one for use as garden planter like the one opposite Dodgems. I guess they really wanted rid of that last one. The folks who paid £250+ for one might not be too amused though. Like Shakey said, getting it into the garden would have been the tricky part as I had a space sort of earmarked for it at the back.

Not getting a Monorail car for a smoking shelter, Rob?

I would love a Log Flume boat, ideally the other half of the one used as a planter by Revolution. What the hell happened to the other half of it?!
