Alton Towers has revealed the line up of rides and attractions that will be open for February half term next year.

The Dark Forest and X Sector areas of the park will be closed, while the latter sees the completion of construction of the new SW7 rollercoaster.

Rollercoasters Air and Nemesis will be in operation in the Forbidden Valley area of the park, which will open 10am to 4pm from 16 to 24 February.

Adult entry is £15 when booked online, or £20 on the day.

During the park’s February opening this year, some of the rides could not function due to cold temperatures.

The full lineup of rides and attractions is as follows:

Air
Blade
Sharkabit Reef by Sea Life
Sonic Spinball
Duel
Maurauder’s Mayhem
Ice Age the 4D Experience
Frog Hopper
Driving School
Tractors
Berry Bish Bash
Nemesis
Runaway Mine Train
Heave Ho
Wobble World
Hex
Doodle Doo Derby
Fury Friends
Dung Heap
Squirrel Nutty Ride
No real surprises here - X Sector's closure is probably the best thing to do with SW7 hopefully nearing completion by this point. Let's just hope that the weather isn't as bad and that Air doesn't take eight seconds to do the in-line twist again! :p

I would of thought they'd open up Dark Forrest to supplement X Sectors closure...

Hey ho, just wondering if it's value for money still... I guess its hard coming to turns that blivvy wont be open:(

It's got me thinking how they will have the entry to X Sector cordoned off. I hope they do actually cordon it off and that there's a few themed guards there.

Why is sub terra not open? It's an indoor dark ride, like hex or duel so could easily run in feb half term :p

I would assume so they don't have to hire actors for one week... Though it seems a shame if tha is the case.

I'd say the reason Dark Forrest won't be open is due to Rita and Th13teen being coasters that mainly use hydraulics (eg Rita's Launch & Th13teen's indoor drop) and hyraulic systems don't opperate well in cold conditions. This might even be the reason why Sub-Terra is also closed that week too.

Are you sure? Because i'm pretty sure modern day airliners rely on hydraulic systems...

Also the freezing point of hydraulic fluid is -57 degrees

No Sub Terra?

Pretty weak line up if you ask me. Only Air and Nemesis in terms of major coaster...

No 13?

Weak line up it may be,

But 15 quid?

Perspective.

Are they usually quiet days, never been in one before? I'd pay that all day long for much Nemmyness! Out of that list though, that and RMT is pretty much all I would be going on lol!

If it's busy though, another matter.

The only major difference from the last two years is no Oblivion, not sure what the complaining is about?

15 quid for a quiet park = nemmy walk on?

That's a win for me ;D

Shame they couldn't have chosen a couple of more rides I can actually go on though lol!

The park will always be dead with a lineup like that - surely only those that live nearby ever actually go?

What I find interesting is that they name "Sonic Spinball", I thought SEGA's partnership was due to end at the end of this year?

As far as I'm aware, it's due to end at the end of 2013, but I may be wrong.

Stick a shed over it, make it a dark ride, add a fairground amount of LEDs and flashy lights and giant flippers ;D

I'd love that ha-ha!

In past years Oblivion is normally one of the most common attractions to be open during the Febuary event, however in 2013 NONE of the X Sector rides will be available, this could mean:
-Oblivion is going to have much needed work done (Paint Job,Mantienance)
-They don't want the General Public snooping around Secret Weapon 7

Thoughts???

A part of the construction phase of SW7 involves theming elements being installed in X-Sector. Including the large 'spider' piece of theming that will overlap into the area. So it doesn't really point towards anything happening with Oblivion. It's simply due to health and safety. As the bottom half of X-Sector will no doubt be a construction site next February.
