Round up all the tories that ever went to Eton.
Get their votes.
Publish.
My worry is the general public either don't care, or they have been breaking the rules themselves so are happy to see BoJo essentially endorsing rule breaking

I personally think that Cummings should go full stop.

...and for Boris, if he is going to support Cummings, perhaps he should go to.

You lead by example,

Since the Cummings-gate it appears that all the lock-down and social distancing rules have gone out of the window with our neighbours. It appears that they are having visitors from other house hold.

This government have p'ssed off many people, especially those that have abide'd by the lock-down rules but have forfeited getting much needed help or seeing family members in desperate time of need because of following the rules.

So basically we can all now go out and visit our friends and family despite if we have symptoms, spreading a highly contagious and deadly virus, all legally because Boris say's it was perfectly legal for Cummings to do so

I don't believe those polls. If you see the comments on Facebook and Twitter where the public are responding to posts by the government and news articles, they're almost entirely unsupportive. It's difficult to find a voice that says it was acceptable.

In fact, the mood is generally one of anger. It wouldn't surprise me if this sparks civil unrest as it's a perfect us vs them mentality.

Its all left wing MSN media remainer hype
This is what they do best, They hate DC and BJ so create a witch hunt to suit their own agenda.

didnt hear any of this when the Welsh health Minster broke lockdown rules, or Stephen Kinnock did

the guy drove his family somewhere so if the worse happened there was someone close by to take care of their autistic son,
thats well within the guide lines

So left wing even the DAILY MAIL is calling for Cummings to be sacked.

Not surprising that you would support this. People in far worse situations didn't drive 260 miles up the country. And you believe that the PM's best bud couldn't get help in London?

Go back to your tin hat conspiracy theories.

Edit - Apparently now some are saying that the autism thing is made up. Misheard quote from LBC some who have far more time than me are stating. Imagine having the indecency to politicise your own child before admitting you broke your own rules.

Don't even start on the autism, the needs of each child is different of course but even if his autistic son really wanted to be with his grandparents:
  • His wife should have stayed at home
  • Why did they go to Barnard Castle?
  • Why didn't Cummings remain in Durham and work from home?
Do NOT use autism to defend Dominic Cummings.

Just as a side note. The media needs to keep social distancing in mind when getting a story. Its was a bit of a rugby scrum type affair.

The government need to look at the claims that mr cummings broke the rules with a castle visit.

Just had a read of Chester zoo coming out and explain how the situation is affecting them. They made a very good point of any business with massive overheads and zero income will go bust at some point. So it makes it interesting to see who will survive this in a way. Places can open possibly in July but just because they are open don’t mean they will survive. Another point I never knew that uk government has already set up a zoo fund but Chester zoo isn’t eligible for any funds.

Been a while since I've been in here and posted but here we go....

On Twitter Polls and public opinion
Twitter polls can be manipulated. Easily. It's incredibly simple to create multiple accounts, or to access farms of automated accounts to manipulate data. It takes one click to vote in a poll. You only need to look at MPs reporting the sheer number of e-mails from constituents that they're receiving, and the many, many posts on Facebook and Twitter of lengthy posts giving individual examples of the sacrifices people have made during lockdown. This is across the political divide, this isn't a remain/leave or left/right issue whatsoever.

Media Scrum
I've already said on a comment on my MP's page that this cannot be defended at all, and issues like this should be reported to the press regulators. It should not however, be used as a diversionary tactic away from the issue at hand.

This is left wing media hype
Utter rubbish, and again just another diversionary tactic. Living where I do, a large chunk of my relatives voted leave, and voted Conservative. They're annoyed, seething in fact that it is one rule for them and one for everyone else. This is a person who's pitched themselves as someone against the elite, only he has now become one of the elite - doing what he wants while it's dictated to everyone else what they are to do.

This is a person at the heart of government, heavily involved in the decision making process in implementing the rules we have all been told we must abide by. Not that we should unless our instincts dictate otherwise, that we must abide by. As RoyJess says, lead by example, these are people who should be adhering to the rules to the letter - no ifs, no buts. If they're not able to, then why should the public?

The government have had a whole weekend to put a lid on this issue. They could have issued an apology, admitted that it was wrong and tried to get on with it. They didn't, and the reason they didn't is that Dominic Cummings knew he did further wrong by visiting Barnard Castle (it's a lovely market town by the way, named after the castle - not just a castle!).

Instead, so intent on saving a government advisor they have issued muddled responses, completely undermined the law, the majority of the public's efforts in adhering to the lockdown and most worrying to me, the local police force who they need on their side to assist in enforcing these laws. Boris Johnson himself has also now explicitly implicated himself in this by doubling down on standing by Dominic Cummings in his press conference yesterday.

To those suggesting this is a witch hunt, I ask the following:

  • If they did no wrong, why did reports from the time specifically stating that both he and his family were self isolating in London. Indeed even an article from his wife stated they were in London.
  • There's not been an explicit denial on the specific aspects of the additional allegations made in the second article on Saturday. There's been no specific denial from the government, even when Boris Johnson was directly asked this yesterday there was no answer forthcoming. Why?
This whole situation is now risking public health, it's sending the completely wrong message to the public at large. Those considering breaking current rules based on this story need to know in no uncertain terms that there are serious consequences for those who decide to flout the rules. Dominic Cummings should resign and quickly, before this situation gets drastically worse.

The consequences of having 5 years between elections and a government with a huge majority.

There is no accountability and Boris knows he can get away with anything. The sad reality is that most people will have forgotten this when the next election rolls around.

The double standards are disgusting. All of the public scepticism towards politicians being fully justified.

and my previous post still stands
left wing media witch hunt
there was no need for any of this.

the guy did what he did for the good of his family within the letter of the law

Forgetting all that, if you believe a 30 mile drive and 60 mile round trip to "test your eyesight" to a place via country roads which JUST happens to be a local beauty spot, when your farm is located right next to a main road which you could drive up and down to "test your eyesight" then you really do need to take off those blinkers.

I'm amazed that nobody seemed to pick up on this and question it at the press conference.

To be fair, the media questioning at the conference was abysmal. Pretty much no decent questioning at all, just a constant attacking-attempt to get the precise soundbites they wanted.

To be fair, in light of the current crisis and circumstances, these needed to be asked and Boris needed to answer them instead of avoiding to answer them.

Was it me or was watching Cummings justifying his actions was very much like watching this
