Valhalla did have a projected video / flame effect for a very short period in 2002, or 2003 maybe, in the final section with the exploding longboat. It lasted a few weeks or so.

Does anyone else recall?
Yup, very brief.
How many people remember the original laser trick floor on the first drop?
I think the ring of fire has had about four different versions ss well.
Hope this still happens, even if a bit delayed.
Shoukd still limit it to afternoons only to save costs, and carbon!

It's been said many times, but it's a ride built for a pay per ride income, which found itself operating in an all you can ride setting.

I am hoping they change enough to market it as Valhalla 2, and get the public as excited as they did when the original opened.
Stop the soaking, slash running costs and make it a world class dark ride for the 21st century.
The worry is that they get B&M Bargains replacing the effects and make it a pointless ride.

It'll certainly be interesting to see what approach they take. They have the potential to completely improve the experience or make cuts to save money on a very expensive ride.

I didn’t actually get to ride it at all in 2019. I joined the queue several times but it broke down every time I attempted to get on it. Pretty frustrating since I’d forked our for a disposable poncho just before entering the station. Oh well, nice to support a family run park I suppose.

With Doctors at Blackpool Vic talking about a flow of Covid patients at present, it started me thinking about the effect localised lockdowns will have on parks like BPB. I also started to wonder about whether groups will be able to visit, as surely coaches will be an issue?

It might be worth noting that the PM has made comments about potentially both opening pubs and restaurants (which parks are apparently on the same level as) earlier than 4th July, as well as potentially reducing the required social distance from 2m to 1.5m or 1m (presumably): https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11722...Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1590599540

This would be brilliant for the theme park industry if true!

Funshine face masks, brilliant. And bookable dates. Great news. Even if the park does reopen early July, how do you reckon things will be? Do you think they’ll limit numbers on park? Circles on ground or taped lines on floor for queue distancing? Only every other row filled on coaster trains? Could be very frustrating. Looks like more time in Crevettes!

Imagine having everyone wearing the funshine masks on the Big One!
It would be a step up from 'The Pig One' - anyone remember that awfulness?

Ended up in Blackpool this evening. Yeadon Way is reopen now, they seem to have done a really good job. There seems to be less street lamps than previously, so less banners and none for the Pleasure Beach at the moment. Lots of 'BPL ❤️NHS' which is cool.

Guess not much point in advertising anything there at the moment with everything closed.

As they are opening right in the peak dates...the tartan army invades at the start of july, I imagine there will be strict daily limits, and passholders will have to book a space in advance.
Bring on the gimp suit and gas mask.
Again.

What on earth was “The Pig One”, out of interest?
They used to sell Pig One posters with a photo of pigs riding the Big One. When I was growing up I had one of them on my wall. Do any of the parks sell posters now? The Pleasure Beach used to have really good merchandise. The Pleasure Beach Experience video was probably the best thing they sold - an official documentary about the park available in the gift shops back in the days of VHS.

Ah right; thanks for the clarification @Funcone!
