Thanks for posting the pictures...

You can clearly see the indoor section of the station the part under the shop. Its even more clearly defined now there is a 1m wall enclosing that area. Enough room for a drop, inline twist incline across the station and up to the lift hill.

Most importantly, as I haven't been on site since major construction is the view showing the right hand side of the cobra roll area. The whole section is enclosed by a wall with a clearance gap on the one end of the site where the coaster will enter the area.

Remember the walls will be used so that they can dump ground behind them and make the surrounding area to the same height. So clearly the pit for the cobra roll/bat wing etc... is going to be considerably deep. Not how it was shown in the plans at all (with the 3 tunnels). It almost seems like the track will enter the pit through the gap left which would allow a tunnel to be built over the track as it enters the pit. Again different from the plans.

As far as I can see the plans would be the similar, the rebar just outside the underground section seems in-line with the plan for the track approaching the cobra roll/bat wing element.

I can confirm that a flatbed hgv truck left SW7 site around 16.30 on the 23/10/12. I never did get pictures of it as i didn't have a camera or phone on me. Not sure what came in on the truck either as i couldn't see anything.

From seeing the site the site looks massive in real life, not sure if anyone else thinks the same though but the builders were doing a lot more work on the nights during the dark hours of the day, even up until 9pm on the 22/10/12

From TS News:

24/10/2012 Concrete, concrete everywhere! But still no track to be seen on site today.

by 5pm the 2nd level with all the rebar in my into the hole pic had been filled with concrete. It was spitting with rain at this point and my camera decided to focus on the rain so these shots not included as they are just uber-blurred.

Is it just me who doesn't remember all of these concrete walls on the plans?
Or maybe I'm just forgetting about them...

It's good to see lots of concrete now, ready for track, but we just need the track now!

Nope they're not on the plans, and they prove that the plans are not an accurate representation of what we are getting.

:)

Now, I'm probably being thick here but could someone possibly (if they have time) make some sort of diagram out of a construction picture roughly showing what we think will be going where and what the different footers / concrete / walls may be for?

Because right now it just looks like a mess and I hope I'm not the only one who finds it hard to make out.

I'm sure it'll make sense as soon as we get some vertical construction, be it station or track we will have a point of reference to figure things out.

You cannot make a diagram of whats going on, if in all honesty, we don't know whats going on. We know there is a big pit and there is going to be a worlds first somewhere on the ride. Other than that we cannot say what its going to do. Certain sites are claiming to know more details, but until we see it on site, I don't think anyone would want to make a diagram claiming that's what's going to happen.

I still don't get this cut and cover pit at the moment. On the plans they show the coaster going a few feet below the existing ground level near the two elements at the Enterprise end of the site. And yet, when you consider how high the retaining wall is, once they perform the cover part of the process it's more than likely going to end up being higher than the existing ground level...

The more the ride progresses the more and more I doubt the plans and layout depicted...

Does a basement for a building need to be on planning permission applications if they are of a certain depth under a building ?

This is the closest I can get because the place is swarming with managers, but have fun knowing

THE TRACK HAS BEEN DELIVERED.

well the first bit anyhow ;)

Thank you ever so much.

And is it just me or does that track look very big? I know it's hard to tell from this distance but compared to the size of the truck that looks thick.

Could just be me though.

Well they've taken their time! :p

Maybe it won't get finished in time for opening and they can label it as the world's first coaster to launch you off the track at the end into some bushes? :p

Thanks for the picture!

:)

We need some close ups! Someone, dress up as Nick Varney and walk in there with confidence ;)

Absolutely awesome, thanks for that. All seems more real now :)

Interesting that, it seems to me, it did come on a curtain sided truck as opposed to a flat bed. That's from what I can see in the picture anyway.

From TS News:

Work on Alton's new 'Secret Weapon' has stepped up yet another gear today when the first parts of the ride's track arrived on resort. The staff car park behind Duel was cordoned off and closed on Monday in preparation for track to be stored before being brought down to the construction site for assembly.

We currently have one picture showing track (thanks to TowersStreet member Ellie!) but will strive to bring you more as soon as possible:

With the end of season fast approaching, and with the park's late opening over the remainder of Scarefest and just one more weekend until the park's end of season Fireworks spectacular, it is not thought a great deal of track construction will be seen over the remainder of the 2012 season.

That said, we will of course bring you as many updates as we can on TowersStreet News and our Facebook page. As always, make sure you check out the ever popular TowersStreet Talk to discuss SW7 and to also take part in discussion on the park's new Scarefest maze for this season 'The Sanctuary', much touted as the prequel to SW7.

And finally if that's not enough to whet your appetite, don't forget our SW7 mini site for a timeline of construction updates along with a summary of what we know about the ride so far!

:D

Great to see track is on site. Hopefully we will get a small glimpse of vertical construction before the season ends!

This is confusing me too. I was trying to make sense of the pit and it completely contradicts the plans. I believe Rob was the first person to point out the different ground levels. The cut and cover pit seems much higher than I first thought too. So with that knowledge that the ground level will be higher, it begs the question - how much different will the track be outside? This pit has certainly assured me that the plans are either inaccurate or completely incorrect. Time will tell though. Makes the project all that more mysterious!

The plan drawings clearly show excavation, it's not literally drawn as square blocks as we see at present, but the landscaping of the excavation is not yet complete. I don't see a potential wide variance at all, at least not yet.
