What changes to operations should we expect post Covid-19?

3 questions.

1) Riding an attraction with a mask. Who is responsible if mask flies off and lands into the mechanism of wheels on ride? Did Flamingo land not have an incident due to a plastic bag? There could be a lot more masks flying around the place than bags! Hope h+s assess risk properly. They don't want another smiler incident on top of all this.

2) Boris has announced indoor theaters can open but not with live actors . So how can dungeons work ?

3) indoorplay areas, swimming pools and bowling alleys can't open so no water park and surely duel and the indoor attractions in cbeebies land cant open?

The Dungeons will not be opening. No news on Duel or Hex yet from what I have seen, and clearly the indoor play areas of CBeebies Land will not open.

Parks across the world including USA and China have been mandating masks on coasters for some time. Don’t think it really presents to much of a problem.

Until an incident happens and the media are on the case! No one ever asked questions on counting rides out of the station and into the station until 2015.

At a guess Duel may open (as each car only holds one household of guests), but they might hold the queue outside the building, I don't expect Hex to open though as the rows don't provide as much separation and the whole experience is harder to distance in.
I don't know what the government guidelines would show on this, but given restaurants are allowed with waited service and separated tables, it seems reasonable for Duel to open.

I doubt it was the news merlin actually wanted. Yes they got the parks open which is a good start but all the midways will have to stay closed or atleast most of them. So the summer money maker for merlin is non existent this year id imagine.

I am sure Merlin were fully expecting this to be the announcement.

I expect they have written off midways for a while longer and this wouldn’t have come as a surprise.

Obviously they more then likely expected it but in my opinion just having the parks open will not help their expected financial situation. Be interesting to see how they sort it out.

You could argue that Madame Tussaud’s could open, are they technically a museum? Minus the 4d cinema / Spirit of London.

Also Wouldn't Madame Tussauds and Sea Life centres count as "museums" and therefore can open?

I would expect Merlin are fully aware they are unlikely to be able to open Dungeons for most of 2020.

They could open some but I’m sure they said Aquariums still have to be closed I could be wrong tho. In my opinion to have most of the midways closed over the summer is a blow for most pass holders.

In the list of allowed to open from https://sg.news.yahoo.com/england-now-uk-pm-johnson-145553078.html?guccounter=1
Indoor attractions at aquariums, zoos, safari parks, farms, wildlife centres and any place where animals are exhibited to the public as an attraction

So I assume Sea Life can open.

So they got one midway open if they choose too but only time will tell I guess. Tho Warwick castle can reopen I doubt most of the towers will be able to reopen at a guess.

I expect most things minus Dungeons will open, London Eye & River Cruise appear to be selling timed tickets from 4th July. Sea life Gweek is already open too (it is an outdoor attraction though)

The only attractions I’d imagine this would really affect are things like Dungeons and Shrek’s Adventure. The other midways are probably easier to manage; things like Madame Tussaud’s and SeaLife, for example, are no different to a museum, as I think they mostly tend to be free flow, don’t they? And the London Eye can surely just restrict the amount of people in a pod?

Although having said that, doesn’t Merlin also own loads of Peppa Pig play villages abroad? They surely can’t be allowed to run right now. And I suppose there is also things like Bear Grylls Adventure & the Legoland Discovery Centres; what will happen with those?

Merlin clearly own too many midway brands now, as I can’t keep up with them all!

They’ve managed to get Sealife, Tussauds, Legoland Discovery Centre & more open in Australia (of course different restrictions apply but it shows they can open them safely)
