Masks are required on Smiler and the other coasters according to Towers. Staff at the station may send people back down if they don't have one.

Not going to lie, that seems ridiculous to me. The policy would make more sense to force people to put them on at the entrance to the queueline (like they do in germany).

If you have loads of people getting to the station and being sent back down the queueline you’re having loads of people who have to squeeze past everyone already standing in the queueline, which increases contact between guests. The whole point of face masks is to reduce contact and transmission between guests.

It’s good I haven’t visited any parks today, as I would like to see how it all pans out before visiting. I would feel a lot more safe personally with masks in the queueline and people not having to barge back past everyone to go and buy a mask because they didn’t bring one, kind of negates the point of social distancing huh?

I wouldn’t say it’s ridiculous. It’s been advertised in plenty of places that masks will be required on rides; social media, emails, videos, posters as the park. There’s been plenty of notice.

In terms of guests getting to the station to be refused, they won’t be sent back along the queue line. They’d be either asked to leave via the exit or via a fire escape door as in the wicker man station.

Whilst I agree that it might be more practical to wear masks at all times, government guidelines don’t enforce this. And it’s not comfortable either. I’d say that Merlin/Towers are trying to strike a balance between guest satisfaction and staying safe.
