Thorpe Park: General Discussion

I mean, you could always behave like a normal guest and not try and access/circumvent (I'd say hack, but I'm sure that's the wrong term) their IT systems without permission. Just a thought...
Now to be fair whenever I find stuff in systems like that I do responsibly report it.

A visit this morning. It’s very quick to get in if you don’t have bags to be checked, you just walk up the middle and then join a cattle pen before going to turnstiles.

No SAW for some reason which is a shame. Rides getting cleaned every 30 mins wouldn’t be bad but they need to stagger them differently as you can go from one ride and then suddenly get stuck in a queue not moving elsewhere due to cleaning.

Swarm as every year always seems to attract staff that just don’t give a damn. The batcher in particular was useless, literally would of been better to leave the chains open and let people move forward themselves. Apart from that all other staff were great!

Inferno loads every other row - the batcher works in reverse so an empty train comes in and then loads row 7 first working down to row 1.

Fastrack is in operation, doesn’t appear to be able to buy but there is Hotel fastrack, Merlin annual vip and some others with paper ticket fastrack.

It was a good effort for second day but they really need to look at if they can increase the cleaning to 45min or every hour as that every 30mins really destroys the enjoyment.

A possible change so they could do hourly cleans is mandatory hand sanitizer, either queue entrance or just before loading.

Edit: Hot water watchers, the water was cold only at toilets by Slammer.

Does everyone think Tidal Wave will be closed the whole season? I imagine they can easily do distancing on that with one row free. Unless they're planning on opening it next weekend which would seem more likely.

I don’t know about Tidal Wave, I would guess some of the things closed are for money saving.

Problem is the closed rides stick out like a sore thumb, you walk into the park, left of you Storm Surge close, in front of you Tidal Wave closed. It’s stupid that the Rapids is closed as well.

Obviously savings need to be made but maybe a more variety of rides is required instead of just going for thrill.

It would seem that post-lockdown Thorpe Park has received a very positive review from the Telegraph: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/news/first-look-thorpe-park-post-coronavirus-lockdown/

I couldn’t read the whole thing, because it was behind a paywall, but the bits I could read were very positive!
I’d agree with that, it was much better than a usual day a Thorpe! Although as I said in my post yesterday they do need to see if there’s any changes they can make to the cleaning every 30 mins but that could just be down to catching three rides in succession that all closed due to cleaning.

I'm seeing lots of comments of Thorpe being overcrowded and ticket pre-booking not being checked at all.

COVID Secure like no other?

The queue times are ridiculous too, 40 minutes for mr monkeys Banana ride, 80 mins for vortex... wtf?

It’s not the only park which is overcrowded though, Phantasialand is equally overcrowded and impossible to social distance. Both parks are letting 10k guests in per day, so clearly the capacity is far too high for parks of their size (small).

It seems odd to me, as if there is a second wave, scapegoats will no doubt be sought and they're just positioning themselves well within the firing line.
