Do the police like CRN being shared on social media?

Is there evidence that Shawn has reported it to the police? A crime reference number or anything?
It's a fair question, not least because the allegations are somewhat broader now than when the TPW account stated the police had been informed.

I would like to throw this into the pot for you to mull over those who say wait:

I was working at a wedding and the photographer was a bit odd. Something did not sit right with me but I let it pass off.

9 months later I find he was convicted and placed in prison because he had hardcore child porn on his computer and had approached young girls. Why does this matter you may ask... Well he was charged by the police prior to the wedding I was at but the law you all talk about 'not guilty until proven' protected him.

He had carried on without anyone knowing where he was exposed to 100s of children who often are in the bridal suite with the bride in very little.

Now the 30+ couples had to check their children after finding out they had been exposed to this. The day was tarnished as well as the photos.

This is why I'm so furious TPWW are acting like it does not matter and are carrying on. Who knows who's at risk while the police do their thing.

Unfortunately do you hear of cases like this, and it is 100% not right. But I may be wrong in this, because there have been cases like this but also the opposite, that sounds to me like a failing of the local authority.

If you have been charged for an offence to do with sexual offences and child sexual offences especially and he is clearly in a job where he will be coming into contact with young people, and more importantly being employed by individuals for a day at the most where they won't be able to find out much about him..... I hope I am right in saying that to me, that sounds less like a law that was protecting him and more like a local epic fail.

If Shawn and Charlotte are for now the only ones in TPWW, and they are responding to questions regarding who is going to be in their videos quite honestly, then I would imagine he has been given the go ahead by police to do so. While I am not saying it's right he's going ahead as normal.... as the hours pass, my opinions on this are changing. But if he himself is not being looked into for any wrongdoing, and the police are aware he is a vlogger and other people in his vlogs are the issue.... I can only take from that, that he has been advised for now, he can continue.

Again, whether this is the right decision or not, I don't know, but I don't feel at the moment that anyone in his or Charlotte's presence have reason to be concerned. If that was the case, I don't think he could be carrying on with the videos.

And if we didn't have cars there'd be no car accidents...

Of course in an ideal world not having people private message others would stop this from happening. However, the clue is in the term - private messaging. There are some awful, awful people in the world and you're always going to get them doing bad things. These allegations if true represent people who have a complete lack of boundaries, moral responsibility, common decency and even disregard for the law of the land, so they'd hardly stick by an arbitrary rule set by someone that's impossible to enforce.

In reference to the police, I'm not concerning myself with that debate as to whether it has been reported or not - as Vicky says that's ultimately up to the victims anyway. My issue with this whole debacle is the lack of sincerity shown about this issue. Deleting comments, the bog standard "police have been contacted" replies and then the change in tact with the welcome public statement. You can maybe get away with the "police have been contacted" response off the back of the initial allegation...

However, let's not lose sight of the fact that what has transpired since that first allegation is a torrent of extremely serious accounts against multiple people who have been involved with TPWW. Some which may be illegal which would perhaps warrant the "legal reasons" defence, but there are many others which maybe could not be considered as such but are certainly inappropriate, and in no way suitable considering the audience they attract.

That is where it would be very wise to rethink their current posting/filming schedule and take a break - immediately. During that time they should consider how to move forward, and then make a further public statement to explain what their vlogs will feature moving forward and who will feature as well as consideration about which of their previous content should remain online. There has clearly been a systemic problem at TPWW with a number of people who have featured in those videos, where they appear to have abused their fame (and yes, it's fame no matter what you think of the channel). That needs to be fully addressed, not just swept under the carpet with a legal issues response.

Yes, of course it would, because a predator is a predator and will find a way to engage vulnerable people.

Are you suggesting that theme park bloggers and vloggers are inherently a risk to society? So much so they should have restrictions on them that would pretty much stop them functioning in the modern world?

The opposite of innocent until proven guilty that is.
I would say at least 99 percent of the theme park bloggers/vloggers are completely safe but just like every business it’s how do you keep that 1 percent out. There is no easy fix to this unfortunately but things should be in place not to police but to advice for the future.

A reminder again that we are choosing to not allow the names of those who have had allegations made against them or specifics about the allegations to be posted. The reasoning being below:

Whilst I don't wish to censor discussion, I do need to make a few things clear.

As has been mentioned, it's been stated that the police have been contacted regarding the allegations. Therefore it is imperative that both as a site and also everyone else as individuals do not do anything to interfere with that process.

As a small site we do not have the ability to evaluate the legalities of each individual post discussing allegations. Therefore I would ask everyone to not name individuals who have not been found guilty of offences within this topic.

In addition whilst I don't wish to stop people discussing the allegations in general, for the same reasons please avoid posting specifics.

Any posts not adhering to the above will be removed. If posts continue to go against the above requests, then this topic will be temporarily locked. Thanks in advance for your support.

Banning people from privately messaging each other would not be a proportionate response and would safeguard noone.

Probably the biggest thing here is the education of children in how to spot predatory and controlling behaviour. That's not to blame the victims, it's just the only real way to have people keep themselves safe when doing something that is, in name and nature, private.

What ever the outcome of the investigation is I truly think that all vloggers should not be able to message fans privately.

No way. The majority of us are not paedophiles or sexual predators. No way should they have to suffer for the actions of a minority. It's a silly suggestion that would not work.

The same logic can be applied to the fact people are not allowed to engage in sexual conduct with anyone under the age of 16. But they still do. It wouldn't stop a predator.

1. He should have had a statement out on day 1 not day 4.
2. He should have temporarily suspended tpww social media with point 1 until told to after legal consultation.

Instead in the middle of this he did a live stream which he made money from and would you believe was actually modded by one of the alleged accused.

I understand that YouTube is an income but there seems to be a lack of decorum about the whole thing.

Another thing worth noting here, is that there is definite proof that some of these accusations are true, and so waiting for the police to "do their thing" doesn't really cut it in some instances.

Now, I'm completely unsure whether Shawn has or has not gone to the police, as 99% of these instances don't really involve him. The only work the police could do on his behalf is if he accused people of libel/slander, but that's an entirely different conversation.

Personally, I have been involved in a similar situation with another person from a well known YouTube channel. They were constantly texting me, being inappropriate, harassing me, turning up to places where I was and I got the police involved. I had plenty of concrete proof, just like those do online, however after a few months the police advised me they were unable to proceed with my case.

The fact is that a lot of cases like this are thrown out, despite any proof the victims may/may not have. Just because no charges are pressed, does not make a person innocent. I know this first hand.

Regardless of what happens if/when the police get involved, one individual in particular needs to be scrapped from this channel and never appear again. All videos involving him need to be taken down and/or demonitised.

Admins of some themepark facebook groups have started removing some of the accused from various groups. Due to young women being in the groups.

The thing is. If they are true, yet no one acted when the allergations came out. (Because of innocent until proven guilt) They have then exposed these dangerous people to more potential victims for longer than could have been.

So removing them from groups and what not is exactly the correct thing to do. Because if it does come out they are true, more potential victims will have been exposed to these people for longer than they should have been.

While I partly get what your saying unfortunately there is no law saying you can't work with children in the mean time as he was not directly working with children. It's a bit similar to theme parks where it's not classed as a child job so DBs checks are not needed. It is very concerning that on multiple occasions people have asked for the crime reference number but none has been given.

Yeah I get that.

When issuing CRNs, police do not tell you that it's confidential. You are free to distribute a CRN as you wish.

I'm not saying Shawn hasn't raised this with the police, I'm just saying I feel its unlikely, and has just been said to appease those questioning him.
