Chessington World of Adventures Resort

We could have a name for Chessington’s new 2021 drop tower; Merlin has filed a trademark for Croc Drop:

Despite its simplicity, I think it has quite a nice ring to it; a nice name for a nice-looking addition to Chessington!

The proposals appear to have been updated to show an amendment to the theming as well:

I thought it was already announced as that name last year

They never announced a name, actually; the planning permit was placed, but no name was ever announced or even hinted towards!

I'm glad we didn't have Merlin in charge of naming Nemesis back in the day, I dread to think what they'd have come up with

I don't know who decides the names for Merlin's latest attractions but they really are naff.

I mean you've got Jungle Rafts at Chessington where you don't even sit in a raft, you're in a crocodile, so the original name Crocodile Creek was better and now Croc Drop, I'm sure are more original names that could be used, it as bad as renaming the Extremis attractions to Drop Dead.

It sounds like a classic case of the creative's behind the project coming up with a reasonable name (Crocodile Creek, Sobek ect.) But marketing have the final say on the name.

I'm not against this approach, as Burbs said it gave us Nemesis and Oblivion in the past. But now marketing seem to aim at a very general audience which gives us some rather bland names.

Also it's quite common now for the creative's and marketing team to work at 2 completely different sites. Not like the old days when they'd spend the night locked in a room getting drunk :p

Does anyone know what’s up with Kobra? It seems like it should be open but I don’t think it has yet opened - and on the annual pass days I seem to remember some comments that it was struggling to make it over the hump?
