Funny things you've overheard people say in queuelines

This wasn't in the queueline, and happened to me nearly a year ago, but I think it needs to be re posted from TTF. Because this was just unreal tbh.

Something very weird that happend to me on one of my 21 SRQ rides on Nemmy on Saturday was that I got sat next to 3 chavs with Geordie accents, when we hit the breaks to my disbelief they asked me if I liked Nemmy, to which I replied "yeah, it's my favourite ride in the park" They then told me about John Wardley, that it's built in a pit because of building restrictions and how this one of the only 2 B&M Inverts in the UK. I asked how they knew this and they said "some site called Towers Times"

Unbelievable!

:) ;D

I've heard loads over the years, One particular one was in the Sky Ride when people used to claim that Rita & Corkscrew was the same ride! ;D

Sunday in the Air Queue I heard someone say that Air could be a much better ride if they made it as fast as Rita. :-\

:) :)

Not heard in the queue, but when issuing minibus keys to a member of staff.

Student 1 "They [AT] had power problems the other day, hope they don't have any today"
Student 2, with a grin " There shouldn't be any probs today, they [AT] have cleaned the battery terminals and replaced the AA battery"
Student 1 with straight face "Oh good"

Student 1 was a bit confused when everyone laughed.

Shame I was not book to take that trip :'(

Today on the monorail when going past Sub-Terra:

Person 1: "That's the new ride"
Person 2: "Yeah, it's Thirteen or something"
Person 1: "Oh ok"

Something along those lines away, made me chuckle!

:)

It's usually me providing the funny quotes.....my most famous being:

"Did you know there's a special programme on Ripsaw? There's one where the fountains stay up the whole time and you just get soaked....ride ops told me they don't know when it will happen" - this was long before going on a meet and being kindly informed that this is all pure lies that the ops probably had a good giggle about due to the look of awe on my face

One that has caused much debate is my experience of getting stuck on Oblivion - I still to this day insist that I was stuck on the part just before it drops some time during when it first opened but many people enjoy correcting me saying that it was impossible :p

If it wasn't for meets I'd have gladly lived in my own bubble of ignorance :D

On every Monorail ride this year somebody in the car has said they wanted to ride the 'purple coaster in the entrance' and on one trip a guest asked another whether it was safe as the cars would fly off the end!

It is possible to break down on the turnaround at the top of Oblivion and just before the drop conveyor there's a block brake. Once you're hanging over the edge you're certain to drop within a few seconds though, as the chain can't hold the weight of the shuttle for long, even if the ride shuts down.

Equally, anyone who says they got stuck half way down the drop or in the hole is lying ;D

Ah I knew there was another one mrbrightside :p it IS Daniel Craig and I will continue to believe that for as long as it annoys Joelio ;)

Not exactly heard in a queueline but, it's the same kind of thing...

Find it funny when people ask staff members in nemesis does it go upside down after a half an hour queue watching the ride

was queueing for Sub Terra the other day and some people got to the front of the queue and asked if it was the queue for nemesis... the host said no and they looked confused and left!

oh and Oblivious, nice Avatar :p where you get that from! :p

Not so much queueline as it is overhearing a member of staff serving a man in the coffee bar on Towers Street, this is pretty much the transcript:

Staff: You been on Nemesis Sub Terra?
Man: No, what is it?
Staff: You go through a room and then another room. Then you sit down with seats that make you feel as if you drop. But you don't.

Bless her :p

student this morning on my minibus.

student "I went to alton towers yesterday, and they ran oblivion backwards"
Me "what, ran it backwards, in what way?"
student " round the bit that goes (make hand move for the curve) then though the tunnel and up the track so you are looking down at the hole"
Me " honestly, you not pulling my leg"
student " No i was on it 3 times doing that"

At this point i head butted the steering wheel (i was parked at the time)

now i wait for the "oh no it cant" replies

Why do people always feel the need to lie about rides? I've never understood it xD

Some ridiculously funny and witty individuals think it's incredibly clever to lie about something for attention seeking purposes. They think it makes them sound "hard" and fearless when they say things like the post above, as they think they sound impressive to do something like this. However, most sane people think they're just idiotic.
