First visit since I was a kid, best route to take to avoid queues

Hi guys I'll be visiting this week with my 11 year old son for his birthday, I was after some advice for the best route/plan to take to get in as many of the rides as possible? It's been a long time since I last visited and I cannot wait to get there, I just hope it isn't ruined because of massive queues meaning we can't do everything we want. Many thanks in advance

Start towards the back of the park (Nemesis, Galactica, Rita, Th13teen), then move forward. Tip: the queues close at 7 not the rides therefore if you join the queue at 6:59, you will still get a ride.

The best advice I can give is the get there early. Like really early. 8:15 in the car park would be good. It seems mad but it'll be worth it. It effectively gets a long queue out of the way before the park officially opens.

Contrary to the above advice, I wouldn't recommend heading straight to Forbidden Valley at present due to the fact that hotel guests currently enter the park via this route.

If you are indeed one of the first guests into the park then head straight to The Smiler. Assuming that this opens on time and you get on straight away then head up to the Dark Forest to ride first Th13teen (very limited throughput at present) and then Rita. Do Hex as well while you are here as the queue for that won't have built up yet.

By now the queues will have built up but keep an eye on Nemesis, Oblivion and Galactica queue times. They have peaks and troughs throughout the day and you can easily avoid queuing a long time for them (less than 30 mins) if you're careful. If all these rides are currently busy ride Duel or Spinball then check again.

Finish on Wicker Man as this is an extremely long queue and popular ride. As above, the queue closes at 7 not the ride.

Hope this helps.

If you're going in the summer hols, during a pandemic and wanting to get on a lot of rides as you've not been for that long I'd seriously consider buying fastpass if you can afford it.

I'm not a great fan of fastpass either but in your particular circumstances I'd say it's worth it.

Fastpass isn't currently on sale. As far as I'm aware there are no plans to bring it back any time soon (certainly not within the next week).

Really? I thought it was back by now as other parks have brought theirs back already.

Forget what i said then. Go to Smiler first as it gets the biggest queues and leave Wickerman till late on.

Massive thanks for all your help guys ita much appreciated just asked my son and he wants to get there for 8.15 as you recommended D4n , I've paid for express parking does this make difference?

A lot, this means that you will park by the entrance (the main carpark is a 15 mins walk away)

Take a posh picnic in an ice box.
Easy nip back to the car for a chillout lunch.
Nice shade under the big tree at the bottom of the car park, our favourite spot.

Because the smiler currently has a capped queue capacity, the queue can only reach an hour atm which is decent so I'd recommend going to wicker man first as the queue for that isn't limited (for some reason) and therefore gets massive

Id be there early, park and walk to the Plaza (avoid monorail).

Smiler and Oblivion first, 13 and Rita to follow, Hex, skyride (if running) to Nemesis and Galactica - lunch around this time - duel, RMT, wicker man.

All of this is based on pre-corona plans. Best thing to do, get the app, its more reliable than the signs in the park. Play it be ear, be flexible, be prepared to walk 800 miles.

Hi guys just want to say a massive thanks for all the advice, it worked a treat. We got there about 8.30 and was 7th in the que, we headed straight to smiler, we were on the 2nd ride then we went Rita and got straight on no que, and then thirteen which we waited about 15 mins. We then moved about all day hardly any que's it was great.
Overall we did:
Smiler x2
Oblivion x2
Wicker man
Nemesis x2
Galacticax2
Hex
Duel
Sea life

Amazing day! we didn't leave till 7.30 thank you for all your help
