I finally got to visit the new Scandinavia last week. First and foremost, it is fantastic to have this wonderful area back at Europa-Park.
The area is similar to the original; buildings are in the same places and of very similar shapes, it feels just as narrow as it did, the cobbled street is back and the original stone fountain retained. However, there are obvious differences. The buildings are noticeably taller, which I did not find a problem, and due to modern materials used for door and windows etc. the area is not quite as charming as it once was. The new toilets are a vast improvement.
Fjord Restaurant is the same yet very different, if that makes sense! The exterior is just a beautiful as it once was; and the interior still contains a lot of wood, a large staircase when you first enter and walls lavishly decorated in portraits, maps and other theming objects. The servery has been moved further left and completely re-worked for the better. There is now a seperate bar inside where you can get a beer or a coffee. It does feel more modern inside, it is not quite as authentic and cosy, but it is still a delightful place to enjoy a delicious meal. I had the buttermilk chicken which was fantastic!
Then there is the bonus new ride - Snorri Touren. What a delight it is! It's fairly small with a very well themed queue line featuring some amusing drawings by the adorable Snorri. Don't troll the trolls! The ride itself features high quality theming projects and screen integration. The small simulator section does not really work and you can tell that it is been put in as an experiment. Overall it is a great new addition to the park, it has a very catch soundtrack and is popular with the kids. Bravo!
