Paultons Park: General Discussion

I can understand why there doing it but think it’s unfair on families who got annual passes and do visit on. Think they need to email guests who’s not used there booking that all future bookings will cost £1.

Why not give the booking fee back as a voucher if/when they arrive at the park ?

Tight Tyke strikes again...
Twenty full shillings in that pound.

I was thinking they could charge a larger booking fee, say £5 per booking, but then give you a £5 voucher to spend on the park.

That should put people off not turning up. I don't think charging £1 will make much difference. Even to a Yorkshireman!

Remember, Paultons are not taking the booking fee for themselves; all of the proceeds are going to the Southampton Children’s Hospital.

I think everything they've done throughout this has been spot on, but I'm not a fan of the booking fee. If no shows are the issue let the no-showers be hit by the consequences, be that financially or by restricted future access.

The other thing they are taking a more unfair bashing for us the hike in renewal prices, obviously with a view to limiting passholder numbers with the issues they've been having. The amount of people saying they're thinking if switching to a MAP for being 'better value', the Merlin way will be something of a shock to many I think!

People's reactions are hilarious. The entitlement is strong in the annual pass community.

Wouldn't the annual pass price have increased for the season what with them due to open a whole new area of the park?

I can see both sides having a Map but I don't use it super often (but it does pay for itself each year) but I'd imagine if your at the parks as a family those £1 a time could certainly start to add up if you live nearby to the park. With the summer holidays coming to a close they'd have been better off leaving it for now and coming up with something new for next season so people are aware when they purchase.

It's gone up twice in a couple of months, something like 30% increase overall so more of a hike than would be expected.

We visited last Monday, and had another excellent day out. It was sold out, but it felt just as busy as when we visited last August Bank Holiday.

We purchased the Peppa Pig World Early Access for this trip, which worked out at £75 for the four of us (on top of the tickets to get in to the park). I think this is a good price for what you get, the first 30 minutes is a guided session where you search for Characters from Peppa Pig. Just seeing Daisy's face when meeting the characters made me smile. When you find them, you then play some games, and then have the chance to pose for a photo. The remaining 30 minutes is then early ride time, which meant by 10.30 we had done all the rides in the Peppa area and missed the biggest queues.

The rest of the park was great as well, the Gardens were looking lovely. The Lost Kingdom was great and apart from one shower which we managed to avoid by having lunch, the weather was good.

Its a shame Tornado Springs is not open, but this area looks great. Storm Chaser looks like it is going to be good and we are already planning our trip next year.

Yeah we did this as well for my daughters 2nd birthday in 2014 but I think it lasted 90 mins as after we all were signed in as a group led down to the Peppa pig stage area where George and Peppa did a little show and meet and greet then went into the indoor play area for a free hot and cold drinks while the kids and adults played in the play area. Then the final 30 mins we had the rides to ourselves. It was the busiest area of the park on both days. We hope to go next year for my sons 2nd birthday and my daughter can enjoy the bigger rides as she’s tall enough for everything now.

Interestingly, Paultons Park has hinted towards a 2022 investment as a follow-up to Tornado Springs in 2021:

People have also stated that coaster footers can be seen behind Cyclonator, so it would seem that this will come in the form of a roller coaster as part of an expansion to Tornado Springs.

As for what it could be, there are no real rumours, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw something more thrilling here; the park seems to gradually be upping the ante of their installations thrill-wise, and they have a solid selection of family coasters now. Equally, however, another family coaster also wouldn’t surprise me.

RMC tbh.

I joke... but one wouldn't necessarily be completely out of their price range. Perhaps a little too extreme for Paultons though.

You never know; I could certainly see them going for something more thrilling, as they seem to be gradually upping the ante of their installations!

I know everyone traditionally thinks of Paultons as a family-orientated theme park, but I’d personally argue that Cyclonator is a thrill ride, so I don’t think they’re averse to building thrill rides by any means.

If it's part of Tornado Springs you'd think a family wooden coaster similar to Kentucky Flyer would be an option and would fit the theme they are going for.

I'd think if they'd ever go more thrilling the plot of land behind The Edge would make a perfect area for expansion. Can see that area getting some TLC regardless, felt a bit out of place with the Tornado Springs, Peppa Pig, and lost kingdom areas.

It’s definitely the weak link at the park now and would all benefit from having an actual theme applied to it along with Cobra.

However, given the issues they had with noise complaints and planning (or lack of :tearsofjoy:) in that area I do wonder if they’ll steer clear of putting anything else too big around there for fear of stoking the fire? I believe a big part of the condition of keeping both The Edge and Cobra was ensuring that no trees are removed from the area to preserve the noise barrier, which while the area behind both rides seems pretty clear of trees, would to me suggest that building anything above the treeline is a no go.

I'd think it would be rather unrealistic to expect any significant attraction or development the year after the opening of a whole new area which is yet to see any return on its investment a year after it was completed.

It will be a kiddie coaster guys. There's no way they will have the money for anything more substantial given the year they have had. Probably be a kiddie coaster to compliment the spinning coaster which opens with the new area.

Not even that I'd say. I don't buy footers having been seen, surely anything going in would be seen on planning before any work started.

I'd be expecting more along the lines of a new event, some sort of character thing or maybe a new 3d film.

If capacity restrictions are going to continue they don't want to encourage significantly more visitors at peak times where they been selling out well in advance anyway. Ideally they need to find away to increase demand during off peak (ie term time), some sort of event would be the way to go to attempt that.

I can now provide video proof that these footers exist:

Towards the end of this video, we can see some of what look like coaster footers.

In hindsight, having seen the size of the area, that looks more like a junior coaster of some sort is coming as opposed to anything too huge. Should still be a nice addition regardless!
