Alton Towers Oktoberfest 2020

Personally I am not a fan of changing specific ride audio to fit the Oktoberfest theme, it gives a bit of a fair ground feel which cheapens things. I might be on my own in that opinion though.

But it would make sense for Towers St audio to be changed.

I don’t think they’ll change the smiler audio, I think it’s just them having a bit of fun.

I imagine we will get Towers Street music which will probably also play around the stage and paths. But the rides will stay the same.

Alton Towers have a *way* better setting for such an event than "next to Derren Brown".

Someone just posted these on the MAP Facebook group

That actually looks really decent. Fair play to Towers and the ents department it looks very nice.

Not going to lie quite excited for the first new event in many years. I was recently looking back at how many events there was in the DIC and Tussuads era in compassion to now and was quite shocked how events have gradually dropped of the Alton Towers calendar. Hopefully if this goes well for them we may see some more extra events, personally I'd love them to do the summer spectaculars on the lake again!

It looks good.

Expectations were very low but this certainly looks to be beating the minimum standard.

Looking good, I must admit the pictures from Thorpe’s event had me worried slightly.

I am also a fan of the use of pretzels on the gardlands. Nice touch! (Pic from Expedition Theme Park).

I hope they sell no Bratwurst if they are £8.00 a time.

You pay £6.00 at Thorpe, £5.00 at a Christmas market and €3.50 abroad.

Unbelievable rip off from the traders they have brought in.

It's just as disgusting as the rip off merchants they get for fireworks.

£8 for Bratwurst, yikes!

There is no way a park in London should sell a sausage £2 cheaper than Staffordshire!

From what I have seen so far, it looks like Alton Towers have made a brilliant effort with this event. I really hope that it is a success and returns in future years, not least because I would like to experience it myself!

Having said that, £8 for a bratwurst if correct is an absolute rip off.

Looks like the event is off to a good start! I guess it's lucky that they planned an event which could be easily altered with social distancing in mind.

I expected food prices to be inflated and £8 for a Bratwurst is a joke - I thought the Christmas markets were usually bad! Any news on if they are served with sides at least?

And what about the drink offerings? I've seen the steins which are designed well (though they only appear to be pint sized rather than the traditional two-pinter?). Hoping there's some good German beer on offer rather than the usual Carling/Stella offerings...
