Football Discussion

This is actually a scaled down version of the original plan, which was to admit 2000 fans to these test matches.

Cambridge United have already hosted a game with attendance capped at 1000, which was deemed a success. Such low crowds guarantee that social distancing can be easily achieved inside and outside the stadium, although hopefully it can be scaled up sooner rather than later.

For lower league clubs especially, getting some fans back into stadiums is absolutely crucial to their survival. Coronavirus isn't going away any time soon, so now is as good a time as any to start bringing back fans, otherwise many many clubs will cease to exist.

Glad to see there will be fans back at a Northampton game, even if we are playing away from home this weekend. Hopefully all goes well.

Will only be home fans though unfortunately.

Indeed, and that is totally understandable at this stage, mainly to minimise the movement of people across the country. Hopefully we can reach a point where away fans are allowed back as well sometime this season; the atmosphere at games is one of the main qualities that makes football so great and we won't fully get that back until we have both sets of supporters in the ground, even if it's not in the same numbers as previously.

So last night we had a vote on new potential new owners with rumours they had a touch of Hollywood and would blow our socks off. I was thinking Anthony Hopkins at best, but Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds

Detective Pikachu and Vic Vinegar want to buy my club for reasons I'll never understand. (Some tedious link with a blue collar club and mining background apparently!) Judging by the twitter feeds that Amazon Prime are also involved for a documentary.

The details will be hashed out soon and we will have another vote to approve the sale. Really can't see this being held up. We no longer have any assets to strip and neither of them are after a quick buck to turn the Cae Ras into a B&Q.

Wow, 2020 you weird mother!

Can't wait for our new sponsors fight milk to be announced.

Please nobody tell Ryan Reynolds we lost to Telford tonight. I don't want him to buy them instead.

Wow - what a game and what a result yesterday! Made even better after hearing all of the sour grapes from Pep and Rodri who seemed to think all we did was lump it up field from the keeper. Guess they don't like it when teams stop their best players from playing and at the same time are able to penetrate their 'defence' on a regular basis.

Just gutted I could not be there.

Getting bored of Guardiola now. Watched the second half and Leicester looked so comfortable and got their tactics bang on. Pep is constantly getting it wrong and it's never his fault.

He's been great for the English game in general but there's a reason they always flop in the latter stages of the Champions League. Remember when his Bayern team got walloped 4-0 at home to Real Madrid? That was completely his fault for insisting on his team being so high up the pitch for 90 minutes against the best counter attacking team in the world.

Pep is over-rated as a manager as is Sterling as a player. Their defence has been awful for the majority of his time in England.

Pep has two failings.
1) His defence has been poor for years, especially so given he still hasn't replaced Kompany...who I still don't think was all that great to begin with.
2) He just can't handle being on the losing side.

:D I think in the last few days I've seen every conceivable version bid that meme. Twitter has been chaos!

Pep is fast proving he can only inherit a team and spend millions. There's nobody in Klopp's league of management and the net spend at Liverpool just widens the gap. Other than the Goalkeeper position Pep has barely improved the side since taking over and the best players have/are aging out.

Great display by Leicester and Vardy is just defying age. Hated him when he was Fleetwood and never saw him becoming a top player in all honesty but what a player.
