Yes, although I do wish supermarkets would impose limits before the shelves actually run empty. There's no reason why anybody should be allowed to buy more than one packet of toilet rolls, to be honest.

I have never been able to get my head round why people need to panic buy, surely by now people would realise that shops stay open and they have all the stock they want.

You would think, but...Let's put it this way. I ended up doing a shift at one of our convenience stores in Alsager on Friday night. The toilet paper was almost all sold out. I can't really speak for other areas of the shop, as I was on the till for most of the night, but it's not exactly a good sign for the next few weeks.

Honestly i am losing faith in the human race it’s just crazy how some people think. Someone on Facebook is trying to convince me the government want thousands out of work to control them and let the new world order take over. My head is frazzled recently it’s just mad everything is just confusing.

Stop facebook...
Through out this entire pandemic the worst enemy has been social media. When you see the likes of David Ike getting more and more popular you know it’s only going to end badly. Like seriously I bet people like David Ike was loving all this just think how much money he has possibly made from all his new “fans”.

With regards to toilet rolls and panic buying, people are simply sheep and it's a case of monkey see, monkey do.

Panic buying started in the Chinese city of Wuhan. In China the toilet paper manufacturers temporarily stopped producing toilet paper to make face masks instead.

Here in the UK we don't import our toilet rolls from China, we make our own and have plenty to go around. The reason why the shelfs are empty is because the covidiots customers are clearing the shelves quicker than the stores can fill them, they have plenty of stock. If people purchase what they need, then there shouldn't be a problem. Panic buying will be short lived again, and if going by what happened last time, most of the food ended up in the bin because people couldn't consume it quicker than it's shelf life.

Because we are stuck here at home isolating and reliant on home deliveries, as well as we have dietary needs which means that we can't just purchase what is left on the shelfs, we have already spent the whole summer stocking up in preparation for another panic buying. We have a simple rotation system to ensure that we keep tabs on what we need to restock up on as well as ensuring that nothing goes out of date, so nothing goes to waste.

With regards to so call experts, I've come across many so called experts out and about over the years with regards Jess' medical condition and they don't even know what is wrong with her, we only listen to her hospital specialist.

From Wednesday, it'll be illegal for people in the North East to meet people not in their household even in public places such as pubs, bars and restaurants. That's irrespective of the rule of six. It was guidance not to mix with others before but will become an offence (I guess we can expect to see the legislation on Wednesday morning...). That's probably the strictest it's been since the total lockdown in March?

It's curious how some areas have high rates and others are holding them down. There does seem to be a North South divide. I'm guessing it must be due to differences in working environments or housing that means people are mixing more in the North?

The north / south divide is a curious one but I put it down to the south was more affected in the first wave (if you want to call it that) so has a slightly higher immunity, the antibody tests seem to back that argument up.

I downloaded the app today and have to say it’s okay, doesn’t really do a lot but the code scanner is handy so you don’t have to sign into pubs, I do find these lists of names and phone numbers on public display quite scary, whereas people moan about the privacy of the app.
Really? On a smartphone and they are worried the government might know where they are?:tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Second person to walk past this morning with a big old, likely cold temperature induced, full lung cough.

Think I'm starting to head towards being happier to see people wearing masks outdoors too now, until things warm up again.

The most worrying thing about all of this is that it seems only around 18% of people who have symptoms are full self-isolating. Even if you don't agree with all of the rules and what we can and cannot do, surely it is bleeding obvious to shut yourself away if you have the damn thing!?

It's not obvious to people who think "oh I've not got covid ive got another note harmless cornavirus"...

I think Rob is referring to people with a positive test result.

I've also heard stories of people going to get tested, then going out for a pub crawl afterwards... chaos then ensues when the result comes back positive .

As soon as we rely on people to use their common sense and good judgement you basically realise we're screwed.

Same logic has been used in those cases, "oh it's not testing for covid it's testing for any cornavirus so i don't need to listen to it"

Someone did that in my town (got tested, went out drinking, got a positive result), and one of the venues called the person out on what they’d done. The individual had to delete their social media accounts as well due to receiving shedloads of abuse, including (I think) death threats. What the person did was incredibly irresponsible, there can be no denying that, and I fully understand people’s anger & frustration. Death threats, though, are completely unacceptable.

I think some people need to think what’s more important self isolation for 14 days with sick pay and maybe Universal Credit top up or a £10000 fine and the risk of infecting your extended family, friends and co-workers. I know if there someone at work with the virus and he refuses to self isolate I wouldn’t go back to his been fired and hope my co-workers when do the same.
