Scarefest 2020

Darkest Depths... Because it's in an entirely new location with a new layout :p;)
Yes definitely Darkest Depths will change a lot!

I personally think Mine Tours will change a lot because it used to one of the most claustrophobic, tight mazes there; but of course coronavirus rules won't like that.

In terms of The Attic; I doubt many changes will be made as it was already quite a large attraction.

I see YouTube is flooded with videos this morning from Thorpe Park's Vloggers VIP night last night. I haven't watched any but I see from the descriptions that many contain footage from inside the mazes (with Thorpe's blessing of course). Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this? Personally, I think it completely ruins the scare and surprise effect of the mazes. If I was spending money to go into them, I'd want to be surprised, scared, impressed at everything not thinking "oh there's a jump scare coming up - I saw vlogger x get jumped on here".

Thorpe did it last year but Towers never have and I really hope it stays like that too.

Yes I know no-one is forcing you to watch them but many followers of the vloggers will watch them and for them and people they show it to it'll ruin the whole surprise element of the attractions.

Mods - please move this if you feel this is better placed in another thread :)

Letting them film in mazes / zones completely ruins it. Yes it’s optional for people to watch the videos but especially this year people might view them and then decide not to visit as it’s not up to previous year’s standards and that then means lost revenue - but if it hadn’t been filmed that person might have visited anyway.

I think it's ok IF -and TPWW surprisingly haven't done this- they specify in the description or on the video itself that it contains spoilers.

(sorry for the double post)

Fantastic to see all the mazes and the Gardens Lights Walk added to the app! Will make it easier to plan around them. :)

Hoping the weather holds for tomorrow, is Wicker Man seriously down again though? It's the night ride we look forward to most!

So according to the app, all ‘thrill’ ride queues will close at 8.30pm.

The only rides remaining open to the advertised 9pm are Duel, Hex, Marauders, Blade and RMT.

I understand that the rides need to be clear of guests by 10pm, but the chance of say Nemesis and Oblivion having a queue anywhere near 90mins at 8.30pm is pretty much nil. Seems it’s a sneaky excuse to close queues earlier.

Yeah thats a very sneaky way of going about it to be honest! I'd say Wicker Man and The Smiler and possibly Thirteen? would need to close at 8:30 but I'd have said the rest of them would've been fine.

I don't really have an issue with this, as they've stated when the queues will close. Yes you will lose half an hour but at least it's not a case of "guess when the queues will close based on the queue times later on in the day", as it is at some parks.

Agreed. They're probably being really careful given the recent bad publicity. Will probably still have some guests complaining though, claiming they didn't know.

I don't think it's a sneaky way for them to close rides early [to potentially save money]. They're just being overly cautious. Maybe the times will change as Scarefest progresses when they can gauge the crowd levels more accurately.

There has been plenty of things this season they could've cut back on to save money and they haven't so I think it's a little unfair to accuse them of penny-pinching by closing all queues at 8.30. If this 10pm close curfew wasn't a thing then there would be reason to suspect early closures of queue lines

As suggested above, Nemesis and Oblivion should definitely remain open until 9pm along with the smaller attractions. Probably Galactica too.

Beyond that I have no issue.

Maybe I am just too suspicious of their cheeky ways to save cash based on previous behaviour!

It just looks to me like the ticket price has gone up by £4 and most rides will be shut half an hour before they previously have, but they continue to advertise a 9pm ride close.

They have also kept that a little quiet from those booking Twilight tickets.
