Good Evening TowersStreet, this is your Quiz Committee (QuizMittee) calling!

Yes, that’s right, 4 quizzes and a radio show just weren’t enough for us and we are now taking over the awards too! Honestly, you’re never getting rid of us now!

After Tom brought the awards back from their lovely peaceful three year slumber last year, we decided it was only right to bring them back once again for 2020, after all it’s been a year spent mostly online, so there’s sure to be plenty of content to talk about.

Here’s everything you need to know about your TowersStreet Awards 2020:

While I’m still letting the lovely @Burbs deal with the technical stuff, I have taken the reins front of house and shall be guiding the proceedings in the only way I know… covered in glitter and incredibly fabulous. Which as it happens leads us nicely into the main change for the awards this year.

Whilst the nominations and voting will still take place here on the forum, the initial announcement of winners shall now take place in its own glitzy awards ceremony as part of our highly anticipated, ‘Not-New-Years-Eve Party Quiz of the Year Awards Night Live Extravaganza!’ (Yes we know, the punchiest, snappiest name in town… You’re welcome!) But fear not if you’re unable to join us for the big night on the 30th, the winners will still be posted here on the forum the following day!

As per the changes last year, there will be 2 rounds of voting. In round 1 you can submit your nominations for each category, the most popular will then be compiled into a shortlist for the second round, where you can all then vote for your winner!

The other major change this year will be in the categories, as per before they will be split into Forum Awards for topics and posts and Member Awards for individuals. However for 2020, the year like no other, Meet Up Awards are to be replaced by Quiz Awards… You know, due to the lack of actual meets! While some of these quiz awards will be voted for by yourselves, others won’t be posted here and shall only be awarded on the night by ourselves. Yes us, your ever loving, ever caring QuizMittee, sorry couldn't help but say it again. So if you've taken part in previous quizzes be sure not to miss this one, you never know you might be a winner in your own new right!

Some rules…

  • You don’t have to vote for every award, just leave the box blank if you so wish.
  • You must be a registered member on TowersStreet Talk to vote.
  • No voting for yourself!
  • The only prize is a shiny TS Awards 2019 signature for your forum profile.
  • The awards are mostly tongue-in-cheek, and as such anyone taking them remotely seriously will be subject to being thrown into the Elz!
  • One vote each! You can’t edit your selections once submitted, so make it count.

And some dates…

  • Round 1, for submitting your nominations, will open on Saturday 5th December 2020 (that's today), and close on Saturday 19th December.
  • Round 2, for voting for your winners, will open on Sunday 20th December and close on Sunday 27th December .
  • Winners will be announced on Wednesday 30th December, during the Not-New-Years-Eve Party Quiz of the Year Awards Night Live Extravaganza! and shall be posted the day after in the winners topic on the forum. Signatures shall be presented shortly after… You’ll be pleased to know Burbs is dealing with that not me, so you should get your signature before the year 2025.

So, without further ado, it's time to get voting!

2019 signature?

Some of those categories are pretty difficult this year!
Indeed, it is quite difficult to think of some nominations, so any that you do manage to submit are very welcome! We appreciate that round 2 is much easier when there's 2-4 options for each category presented to you. :)

Wasn't quite sure on the distinction between 'Best Poster' and 'Best Contributor' ?

Wasn't quite sure on the distinction between 'Best Poster' and 'Best Contributor' ?

This is a question that gets asked every year.

I believe the distinction given previously is that "best poster" alludes to the quality of posts, even where a user contributes to the forum very rarely.

"Best contributor" is given to someone who contributes regular, worthwhile posts.

Of course they can be (and often are) given to the same person.

I've been a regular poster on TST since the start (and TTF for about a year before that), and I still get confused as to the distinction between 'Best Poster' and 'Best Contributor'. :p

This is your final call people, two days notice to submit those Awards Nominations. You have until 8pm on Saturday 19th to submit your nominations, so be sure to get them in on time, so your favourite doesn't miss out on their chance to be in on the running!

Voting shall commence for your winners on Sunday Evening at 8pm!

AND THE NOMINATIONS ARE CLOSED...

Hi all, it's me your friendly team member, Sussy. Only ever so slightly late announcing this, took me a while to log in you see :nomouth:

Anyway, we shall see you all back here tomorrow with the shortlist to open the vote!
