Wity Staffordshire Morlands going to to Tier 4 I think it's highly unlikely the Gardens dys will be able to go ahead next year if Towers had planned to do them again. :(
They could be classed as essential exercise; I know the gardens were allowed to open during the November lockdown, which Tier 4 is broadly equivalent to.

"In Tier 3 and 4, indoor attractions must close, including those at venues such as botanical and other gardens, heritage homes and landmarks and attractions such as zoos, farms, aquariums, and safari parks, though outdoor grounds of these premises can stay open."

Whether it is worth them doing so, is another matter though. I doubt they would open in all honesty.

It's a sad statement, but it's been worded very well, acknowledging they did consider whether it would be worth staying open.

That's the thing, even though outdoor centres can open, is it actually worth it? All indoor areas must remain closed (apart from toilet facilities I hope), and remember that in Tier 4 restaurants must close completely. That means no takeaway service, which I assume means that kiosks can't open either. Personally I agree that it isn't worth them opening currently. At least places can still get funds through online donations and shop purchases though, although obviously that won't be enough if they're closed for a long period.

Takeaways can open in tier 4, I went to one yesterday
Covid: Here's what you can and can't do in England's Tier 4 | ITV News

I guess they could easily open, but not sure they will. Weather can be hit and miss this time of year, and walking through the gardens could be quite bad if the weather isn’t great.

Especially considering indoor areas (including shops in Tier 4) can't open, so apart from the gift shops there wouldn't be anywhere for guests to take shelter.

And in Tier 4 you're advised against non essential travel. Yes, i know you can travel to open spaces, but are advised to only do it to local areas.

I imagine if we still have a lockdown on late feb/March then we may get the gardens open again when the theme park can’t open. But let’s hope by then the parks will be opening!
I've got high hopes it should be fine by March for the theme park to open. Not so sure about Blackpool though as that's opening in 5 weeks so we'll have to see

I can maybe see the 2021 season being delayed at the start not as much as 2020 ofc but maybe till April?!
There’s only one thing that is certain, and that’s that bear’s do something in the woods. But in all seriousness after the constant up and downs of 2020, I myself will be trying to distance from predicting when anything will return, wether that be Alton towers, or the return of normality in travel.

Very likely unfortunately as apparently Boris has extended the lockdown til at least the end of March. :(
That’s not an “extension of lockdown” per se, from what I can tell; I think the first review will still be on 15th February. 31st March is just the current latest date that the lockdown can legally end; the law currently dictates that it can’t go on past 31st March. This was only put in because some Conservative MPs were concerned about it being able to drag on for too long.

For example, I think things like school closures could possibly be eased in February dependant on where things stand by then, but in the context of the park, I think we will probably be waiting more into March/April before we see it able to reopen.

Boris himself has even said that he does not necessarily expect full lockdown to continue until March; the legislation only specifies that date in order to allow for a more gradual reopening as opposed to one big day where everything is lifted.

So in that case hopefully by 20th March towers will open its doors and we can all get marmalised, sacrifice ourselves to the wicker man, roar along the beast that may be chained but is still untameable and launch to a wicked 2mph on rita

From what I've heard the end of March is the tiers being ended which we're expected to enter in mid February or beginning of March. It's all dependent on what tier Towers is in. I can see it being very likely that opening day will go ahead. We'll see though.

I’m feeling cautiously positive about the 2021 season for Alton (and all parks) I think the Feb early openings for other parks are a write off. But assuming the vaccine program is completed successfully with all over 70s and extremely vulnerable vaccinated by mid Feb I think end of March we should be in a good position. If it’s a tight reopening with strict social distancing still in place I can see towers holding out for the summer to open David Walliams.
