There is also the reduced VAT rate to factor in. Any ticket or hotel bookings they take before 31st March for this season they only need to charge 5% and so can keep a bigger slice of the money. Any bookings made after April 1st will be back to 20%.

Since most parks are allowing rebooks as opposed to refunds this will benefit them.

TT are reporting that this year's services days have been cancelled. Not sure if dates had been confirmed for them, but they're usuaully the weekend(s) before the main season starts.

Anyone who has always fancied living close to Alton Towers.

Here is your chance. You can’t get much closer, this is the house and B&B right next to the main entrance.

Let's just hope that whoever buys it is sympathetic to Alton Towers and we don't get a repeat of the 2004 noise abatement order.

Very different circumstances. A big part of the Roper’s case was that they moved to the area before Alton Towers became a theme park so they had no idea at the time what was to come. No court is going to believe someone buying this house now didn’t know what neighbours they were getting.

Trying to turn right out of the end of the road between 9 and 11 on a Summer Saturday would just be impossible I think...

I could imagine the court case. "I bought what I thought was a lovely quaint b&b in the Staffordshire countryside and had no idea there was a big theme park right next door!"

Make of this what you will...but just looking on the Alton Towers Past Facebook group and on a post talking about the Towers "Graveyard" next to Duel someone who says he has worked on Blade for 15 years during closed season says Blade has finally been scrapped:

The link to the original post from about 2 years ago is here (scroll to the bottom to see these latest comments):

Don't blade get removed every winter with the speculation of it's removal, for only for it to return for the season?
Yeah removed for winter maintenance and stripdown . I just thought it unusual that it was posted in that thread that was 2 years old and someone who claims to work closed season says it's scrapped and what with the extended down time it has had in the last couple of years there could be an element of truth in it. Of course no reason to believe him but also no reason not to believe him! Time will tell of course and we'll find out soon enough
