Chessington World of Adventures Resort

It’s official; Croc Drop is opening in 2021:

Is it me, or does that music sound like it could be a snippet of a potential soundtrack?

"Brave the drop. Release the curse"

Maybe just me... but why would you want to release a curse?
Might it mean “lift the curse”, or something along those lines?
Love the artwork.

The name is DREADFUL.

I personally think Croc Drop flows quite nicely off the tongue, so I think it’s quite a cute name in its own kind of way, but I would have preferred the alleged original name; it was referred to as Sobek in the planning documents, which I do like a little bit more, I’ll admit.

If the music in the video is the soundtrack, I’ll also admit that I really like the soundtrack; I don’t know if it’s the drums, but I almost get a kind of Wicker Man-style vibe from it!

To me the scale is all wrong. The crocs mouth is oversized compared to the height of the drop tower, the end result is that it makes the ride look squat, smaller and weaker than it really is. You'll barely clear the top of the mouth! Theming is supposed to enhance ride experience, this looks like it'll manage to detract from it,

And the proportion of the head to the temple, it looks very odd even just from a laypersons POV surely. The texture/colour/shape just makes for a pretty ugly feature dominating the area.

I guess fans are enamored because its at least a big piece of scenery, but I think honestly spreading the theming budget around bit more wouldve worked wonders than shove it all in this big thing

Well, it is the most amazing thing to happen since the Rainforest area?

But yeah, I think it's fair to say Chessington's investments have caused its fans to have low expectations.
I can't think of any other major parks that can get away with investing so little.

It “may” have looked better proportioned if they’d have gone for the 40m version of the tower, but probably not.

Ooh; that’s looking absolutely stunning! I love all of the carvings and little details on the side, and the actual crocodile structure itself is so striking!

Overall, I’m definitely liking the overall look of this project! While the drop tower itself probably won’t be a Detonator or a Venom, as it is more of a family ride on the whole, I’m sure it’ll still be really good fun and decently forceful!

I also think that this looks like an incredibly bold step for flat ride theming on the whole; with the effects alluded to in the planning application, I personally think that this could quite possibly become the UK’s answer to Talocan, in terms of a photogenic, effect-heavy flat ride!

It really does look like the top half of the tower got lost in the post.

I also like that the ride area seemingly needs a perimeter fence, despite the fact it’s indoors... Doesn’t look plonked down at all.
