I don't mind this idea. Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures.

I would assume that the park will market and present them in a way that doesn't damage the park's brand. I can't imagine we'll see dodgy Marvel character rip-offs on facades or Happy Hardcore soundtracks.

I agree. Buuuut maybe this is the time to wheel out this ‘classic’ for the new rides soundtrack ;)

If it is towers tech team who maintain them they will have to be trained on how to.

And possibly have to sign them off each morning and attend breakdowns etc. All time consuming and could affect their response to what they usually look after. Unless they have employed more tech services staff or someone else looks after the hired in stuff.

Wasn’t boneshaker set further back ? There’s the concrete wall that’s left just beyond the start of the Th13teen queue , I thought that was a remnant of the base of Boneshaker ?

Assuming it is random plonkings as has been suggested, it would be better/nicer if they built a fairground area on the lawns and loosely themed at least the entrance as a classic carnival/fair. You could interspace with benches and bars etc also.
I think it's extremely unlikely they'll be on the lawns, if these are here for the season they'll want the lawns clear for Oktoberfest (if it returns) and any other event that they could be planning. And did I read somewhere that they are restricted as to what they can put on the lawns because it is a heritage area? Could be wrong on that though.

All these flat rides will have huge diesel generators attached - sometimes the cab of the trailer other times a dedicated generator lorry. Towers are not going to want them on the lawns and if they parked them behind the scenes out the way they will not want the cables trailing everywhere across paths or buried in the grass.

To me it makes sense to have them in the different areas - the Ripsaw & Submission plots, somewhere in Dark Forest and maybe in Fountain square because then the trailers and generators can be hidden from view easily as there are access roads near by.

And also - will these be upcharged?

Yes I think you are right. It actually had two locations over the years, as Energizer it was behind the Th13teen on ride photo kiosk, where the queue line is today and as Boneshaker around the entrance to the Th13teen queue in the location that did house the Astro Dancer.

They will not be upcharged.

I understand that they are operated by the group from which they are being hired.

As some have said, it is a sorry state of affairs. But, we are where we are. Alton Towers have lost so many supporting rides over the years. This has to be rectified in the years ahead.

RE: Dark Forest - any ride there will surely go on the Ug Swinger site? It's the only area? Ready made and paved.

I find it unlikely that if all legal social restrictions are ended on 21 June, or even later, that any travelling rides will still be in operation for much after that.

They will be in situ for the season.

They will be in situ for the season.

That may be the intention, but I'd be skeptical if all permanent rides and attractions reopened at full capacity later in the year they would still want to have these additional operating costs retained until November.

It is probably a contract for the season? Of course, you may be right but from what I gather the plan is to keep these rides in place as the entire shenanigans about 2021 is capacity and rides per head.

For the Dark Forest could a new flat be put behind the lockers near the arcade/tunnel below rita? That used to hold a flat ride of some sort (of course would involve moving the lockers), so I’m guessing the UG swinger site would be easiest for any new additions

Unfortunately I believe they have been scattered around the park which is just going to look very jarring. It is a sorry state of affairs but hopefully it will wake up the powers that be.

Oh yeah, it's hardly ideal.

The rides can't really go on the lawns, as the event space is too important for Oktoberfest/Scarefest/Fireworks. I guess what it will do is put "family rides" in all areas.

I know theming around the park could be better as a whole, but I agree about it looking jarring. You'll have Nemesis on one side and then potentially a twister opposite it. It's going to feel very odd, but here we are I guess. At least it's a start.
