Why is everyone moaning about the addition of 4 new rides. When was the last time towers added so much in 1 year. Gangsta granny too. Some may not be a fan of the idea of tacky fun fair rides being in a theme park but the more rides in a park the better imo

They're not really. I actually think the response has been fairly reasonable here. Good old balanced TS members!

Yes I don’t necessarily see it as a bad thing short term. We will get to enjoy some wildly different types of attractions for a season which probably wont ever happen again. Super!

On the other hand it is just sad that Britains supposed Number 1 theme park has fallen so far that they are hiring in rides as they essentially dont have enough to operate during Covid times. Hopefully the park management are Troopers and really push for a budget for some new flats.

Like I've said before, it's not ideal because it's not what we expect. You wouldn't expect the UK's leading theme park to be in this position where this is what is has to do to help with capacity. It's fine as a temporary basis, but I find it strange people think it's good because that shows how low of a standard we've actually come to expect, as a whole (discounting the high quality standard of Wicker Man in 2018). I'm sure most of us will ride them (me included) and hope it leads to permanent investment.

I'm pretty sure if the limited capacity is something like 10k there's enough rides to keep people spread out. I imagine they're adding these rides so they can increase the capacity to how it was in the summer

But flat rides in a theme park aren’t fair rides. Look at Talocan, Ripsaw and Ramesis Revenge, they are all completely different to a fair version. Even things like pirate ships aren’t normally seen at fairgrounds. Properly realised and themed flat rides belong in theme parks.

But for this season I think guests will just get a surprise when they turn up and find a few extra rides hopefully with short queues.

Actually Ripsaw was the travelling fair version of the top spin, it was brand new and Tussauds themed it but it was the travelling model. Rameses revenge was the park version.

What’s the difference between the park model and the travelling model, out of interest?

I don't think there's much difference other than the travelling model can be moved and assembled more quickly. For that reason, Dreamland Margate bought several travelling versions of Zamperla rides in 2017 including an air race and an endeavour so they can clear the area for an event.

Although the overall presentation of the ride capacity is completely different to if it was travelling. They may have got a travelling model, but it was installed as if it were permanent.

Should be an interesting change to the scenery for the season. It's only temporary so it shouldn't be a problem really. Strange, but ok.

It was still on its truck base, obviously the pond and the op cabin where installed bespoke and the theming gave it a much more solid look than a traveling version.

As far as these plans to add some temporary rides go, it’s sad Merlin have brought the park to the position where it has no choice but to hire in traveling rides, hopefully it will prove the park needs more filler attractions to the powers that be.

So Twister, Waltzers, Dodgems and...?

Interesting how some of us respectfully keep our lips fairly sealed so as not to leak the park's announcement in advance, whilst it seems marketing's heal dragging has now left them with all the information out in the public domain before they get chance to properly announce it.

Anyway, yes - Super Trooper, Twist, Dodgems (? not convinced on these ones) and Waltzers.

I am somewhat surprised that marketing want to shout about this particular decision but fair enough (no pun intended).

Now I am curious as to what sort of spin they will be putting on it. (ok, pun intended).

The announcements will no doubt come as part of a wider reveal of the plans for 2021 as a whole. They need to hurry up and let the cats out of the bags.

They need to shout about it really to show that the public want/need flat rides as a part of their day out.

I'm sure non-enthausiasts will be happy with the rides, and most enthusiasts will moan about how temporary and tacky they look.
