Anybody else sent a file (that can't be opened) entitled 'noname' via email in place of their booking confirmation today?

Worked fine for my booking yesterday, but today I have been sent this which is completely useless. No ticket and no reservation details so I'm now unable to amend the booking too.

Huge glitch in the system unless I'm missing something.

That doesn't sound good, you should contact Towers about it.

It's the html that would normally be the body of the email as an attachment. It does open with some wrangling. (Try downloading the file on pc and opening it in chrome).

Thanks I'll try that. @Skyscraper I've already dropped Towers a message, even if I can get it to work then I'd imagine there are plenty of others in the same boat now as I'm not exactly tech illiterate. It's not a good system.

I think the difference here is Disney can actually enforce rules better then merlin.

Spot on! I would not mess with Disney Security - you'll be out of the parks if you do, even if their uniform does remind me of Police Academy.

Also, Americans tend to respect some "social" rules, i.e. designated smoking areas way better than the Brits. You won't walk round a Disney park and constantly have the industrial vapers (the ones with an e-cig with the liquid reservoirs the size of a fag packet) fogging you out.

Just confirming that this did work for me, and thanking you for your help

Still think it's a rubbish system.
But this still doesn't help as I want to be able to open the tickets and show them on my phone. I don't want to have to print them out

In chrome, Press print to pdf then send yourself an email with that pdf file.
You can then open up the file on your phone.

Or snipping tool to save to jpeg and send the jpeg via email

Mixed but mostly positive feelings about this to be honest. It is not the sort of rides I would personally have liked to see Alton Towers adding. Given that, it is amazing that any rides are being added (even on a temp basis) based on the struggles of the last few years and Merlin's drop in funding. Plus, more rides at Alton is massively needed. So, overall, I welcome it. As long as it is not a sign of where what once was one of the worlds most innovating and leading parks is heading. But, honestly I do not think it is.

As for capacity, and please correct me if I am wrong. But the parks have an absolute maximum capacity they can operate at. There is basically a definitive amount of people they can let into the park no matter what, based on the size of the grounds. Something that does not change regardless of what new rides they add. So that will stay the same in that respect, but 3 new rides, will increase the capacity of the park's ability to send guests through more rides overall. Leading to less queues in theory, as all the guests are spread out over more rides.

Given that, 3 fairground rides will not improve capacity that much at all at Alton. The throughput of those are tiny in comparison to some of the queue demolishing rides Towers already have. Almost to the point that the extra capacity will not be noticed. But I do not thing that is the point, the point is something new, and given the times, that is very much welcomed. Hopefully this leads to bigger things.

I'm having trouble with my tickets that I have booked for towers. The email they sent, which was supposed to be the tickets, just comes up with a pdf document called noname. This has nothing in it and I've tried to contact towers but they aren't replying. Now I know someone has mentioned they had this problem themself so I certainly would appreciate if I could get some help

Hasn’t someone already helped you with this about 2 posts up from yours?
Ah yes but I don't really understand what he wants me to do. He said in chrome press print to pdf, well I don't know what he means by print to pdf

When you press print does it give you the option to select a printer named ‘print to pdf’? If so, that’s what you need.

I would just like to cancel my tickets tbh but I can't do that unless I know the order number of the tickets, which I don't

Edit: OK I'm going to need trusty hands with this one. It just isn't working for me and clearly I'm terrible with computers! So is it alright if I forward the email to one of you and you change the document into tickets please and send it back. Private message me your email if you know how to do it and can help me

Can you not try and look up your orders here with email and phone number? Does that work?

Yes that's the thing I've looked on my booking portal where it asks for your email and phone number and none of the 3 reservations I've made from 10th March onwards are coming up. However I received emails about all 3 reservations, confirming my booking. The first date is fine and works, however the second email with the other 2 dates just comes up with the pdf noname, meaning I don't know what the order number is and I can't cancel these dates. And because I've booked 3 dates, I can't book any more with my pass ID, but 2 of those dates I need to get rid of and I can't

Probably best to contact Towers about that.

Both the size of the park and the amount of attractions does determine the overall capacity, then of course there are other factors right now with the pandemic making capacity lower.
Imagine if Alton Towers had all that land but only one rollercoaster, the queue would be huge, so more attractions means they can accommodate more guests.
