GeoGuessr: Theme Park Challenge

24,987. Happy with that especially as I knew the fourth one immediately from the location sign, yet struggled to remember where it was on the map...

Great game! I managed 24,764 pts.

Gotta give thanks to The Colonel for helping me get Spot On for the second :tearsofjoy:

Of course the only park I haven't been to in this round is the one that threw me off...

Some solid scores so far, well done everyone. Danny has taken an early lead but there's still plenty of time to move up the leaderboard.

This round could be a bit more tricky I think.

Well it was going well until round 4 (aside from mixing up on round 3)... For a park in such a lovely looking setting that’s not what I expected it to look like nearby :tearsofjoy:

My oh my, that was difficult! My score was far lower that time around; I was even on the complete wrong coast of America for the first one!

Third leg is starting now good luck all.

Just to clarify, the Worldwide round can include US and Europe.

I got 24,089, which I’ll admit I’m quite pleased with! I knew all of the parks, but actually pinpointing the locations on a map is the really hard part for me, and is the main thing that seems to be losing me points!

Much more difficult this time round on the face of it. Certainly struggled to find two of them on the map, think it was just pot luck how close I got.

Deffo had to look a lot harder for clues as to where I was this time, but thankfully had a decent idea where the first four parks where once I spotted the clues. Once I got to where the parks themselves were it wasn't too difficult to figure out the specific location, though the first one was certainly a bit harder.

The 5th had me scratching my head for a good while. Once I'd spotted the clues I just ended up guessing that it would be one of possibly two cities in the country. When the park marker showed on the map and then the specific attraction as I zoomed in a bit more I was there! Deffo wouldn't have got it without the markers though.

24,955 points. Not too shabby!

Out of curiosity, how are the points actually calculated? There were a couple this round that I got in under 50 yards and earned around 4996 but I noticed in the past round I bagged a couple of 5000s for similar distances. Does time also play into it, or is the scoring a little stricter for rounds the majority are problem more familiar with? Not complaining, just interested! :)

To be honest I have no idea but yeah it does seem a bit inconsistent sometimes with the closer guesses.

I'm pretty certain time doesn't come into it though.

I guess it's to do with the size of the area being guessed? Like for a worldwide map then the score would be more lenient for bigger distances.

Not necessarily, try and work out the exact opposite end of the world to Six Flags over Georgia. You like making the skyline game insanely hard so why not make Geoguesser insanely hard?
