The big difference is that Shawn’s still living with his parents but there gonna be a time his got to move out and get his own place with Charlotte and I doubt all that theme parks stuff will be moving.
I think it’s really dark rides with pre shows, walk thoughts and where it’s impossible to run a attraction with social distancing.
River Caves, Ghost Train and Wallace & Grommit is fine as each boat/train can be run with your own party group.
Really hope to get back to Blackpool this September for the park and lights.

This is one of the weirdest posts I've seen on this board.

Ride parts aren't really for the average visitor but there are some serious collectors (e.g. Theme Park Worldwide) who do have pretty big collections and like to show them off.

Show them off to who though? Shawn can show them off to his followers. My family and friends couldn't care less about stuff like that. It's incredibly niche

My wife has recently started collecting silver charms...seventies style, after inheriting the family charm bracelet.
Fun simple hobby, that I can't really argue about...I have over a dozen mouse wheels, and many random lumps of strange metal, hers are smaller and cleaner than mine.
Use of ride bits...
Skittles and bowls competitions, paperweights, cloche holders, counterweights, presents for the next generation of geeks.
A mouse wheel is a perfect holder for a tealight.
Some take it so seriously that they are promised inheritance of precious rare items after the death of the current owner.
Eh shakey.

For anyone interested, I just found a video of Icon doing underspeed and overspeed testing:

My goodness; I can only imagine how fast and intense that overspeed setting must feel! It’s probably not even safe for human riders!

"Overspeed..." Christ.
What do you mean, out of interest? It’s a faster setting than the ride regularly runs on, so as much as it looks fast and intense, it’s probably not particularly safe for human riders.

What I meant was, in its "overspeed" setting, it doesn't look particularly fast or intense, and this is ostensibly faster than it's intended to run?!

I’m not sure whether it’s only the first launch that is in overspeed, but I think it does look a little faster to me; look at how quickly it goes over the top hat! I also think that the Immelmann looks faster and a little more whippy than it does on regular settings.

That might just be me imagining things, though; as far as I’m aware, noone’s actually ever ridden Icon in its overspeed setting, as far as I’m aware, so we can’t say for sure how differently it rides, if it rides differently at all!

See, it looks a little faster than normal and seems to take the top hat with slightly greater speed, but even then it still looks fairly tame. I don't know what part of it you're referring to that you deem could be unsafe for human riders though? Have you seen how quickly a lot of coasters (I'm thinking RMCs here but sure there'll be others) take their airtime hills for instance?

To be fair, I haven’t really done that many coasters, especially ones with fast airtime hills, but it looked particularly fast in sections, and I assumed that the speed that Blackpool runs the ride at would be the maximum “safe” speed, so to speak.

I suppose thinking about it, the top hat doesn’t look much faster than how quick something like Mako looks when cresting its airtime hills, or even something like one of the Intamin or Mack hypers, but I was thinking that due to the steep angle of the top hat, the negative g’s might possibly exceed safe limits? I don’t know for sure, though, as I’m no coaster engineer.

I suppose the airtime would probably be no more forceful than something like Dodonpa’s top hat, and that existed perfectly safely at Fuji-Q for 15 years! Man, I wish I could have experienced that top hat; I imagine the negative g’s were probably insane!

It's just a failed launch, which forms part of testing programme - to ensure that the brakes prevent overshoot back into the station. The 'overspeed' is actually successful/desired speed in this case.

There is no way it runs that quick normally, it normally hardly makes it over the top hat and that's flying over.

I find it very comparable to what I've experienced and the majority of video footage I've seen. It's not fast in any way for me, but agree there are times it looks close to failing to get over, but that's not uncommon with launched rollercoasters.

The speed that is running at is far faster that it runs normally but I would argue that looks more like it’s design speed and Pleasure Beach have toned it down (either because Mandy gets too scared or to save power costs).

If it ran at that speed it would actually be a good coaster.
