what’s that got to do with events being run? The newest rides attract more queues, that will be true until a new ride is built.
Well in terms of events Oktoberfest is definitely the best event in my eyes, love the atmosphere. Would be great to see a summer music event again like they did in 2013. I remember them being very busy for that event

This is the actual Smashing Jump (Jumper Jumper) that is at Towers this season. :)

I wonder if that's going to cause noise complaints with where its been put in the park? Bloody loud when it's bouncing.

The ride is fine and will fit in well in the AT lineup. I just hope they spend a few quid with their friends down the road in Leek to do something about the ghastly fairground graphics.

I've heard from someone who works at towers that there's only 3 new fairground rides not 4. And he says he's walked around the whole park so I don't know where the number 4 came from

Well we'll just have to wait and see. :)

Despite originally communicating a date of May for the release of July and August prebooks. Merlin seem to have changed their minds.

That should put a spanner in the works of those who try to book millions of trips a year. These people probably booked the first 3 weekends of the season but now seeing that booking is opening for later in the year they may have to sacrifice one or two of their nearer booked tickets to make sure they defo get a day or two booked in the summer. That'll teach 'em for being greedy and block-booking all the dates out last year. Really glad that Towers have sorted their booking system out this year. Well done :)

Has anyone else had their trip cancelled? I received an email yesterday cancelling my trip and I've since had to rearrange from the splash landings hotel to the stargazing pods :( Apparently this is due to the new covid guidelines but I'm not sure what has changed since I first booked the trip to mean that we can no longer go to the hotels. Sorry if this is me being ignorant, I'm just a little annoyed that we've had to change plans fairly last minute

If this is between 12th April and 17th May it's because self contained accommodation is allowed to open and hotels aren't.

Originally the Stargazing Pods were closed until 17th May too because of the shared facilities. But it does appear they are now bookable from 12th April along with the Woodland Lodges and Treehouses.

The guidance for accommodation between April 12 and May 17 does say:

Self-contained accommodation, such as holiday lets, where indoor facilities are not shared with other households, can also reopen

So not sure how they are going to make that work. Maybe you will need to book a time slot to use the loo ;)

The pods would certainly not fit in with my definination of self-contained, but hey ho! I guess if camping is allowed (and I have no idea if it is!?) then the pods would also be okay.

I can also just see a lot that could go wrong trying to get takeout or outdoor service of meals to all guests in that period too.

Just the lodges made some sense as they have their own bathrooms and it is a limited number of rooms and Crooked Spoon could do takeaway food with some limited table service outdoors. But add in all the pods as well and is there enough capacity to serve and box meals?

Regarding the rules on shared facilities, some further googling does confirm there is a lack of clarity regarding what ‘shared facilities’ means and whether toilet blocks at campsites are included in this.

I imagine Alton Towers have taken advice and decided that they can operate the pods within the rules. I suppose using the toilet block in the pods area isn’t much different to using a toilet block in the theme park, and they will be open from 12th April as normal.

I just find it frustrating that since I could only really go during the time my trip was first booked I had to either shell out extra for a lodge in the enchanted village or downgrade to the stargazing pods. But I suppose there was no other way to go about it.

Also the booking system for picking up keys for the trip was a google form which seems a bit of a last minute measure

I'm assuming Alton Towers would let you rebook for later in the season or get a credit or refund? Its not your fault that the government say hotels can't open until after the 17 May, so I'd expect you should get a refund as the accommodation you booked is not available?

Unless you really want to visit during April/May in which case you might be better looking for off-site self-catering accommodation.

Yeah they issued a credit voucher which could be used later in the season but I wanted to keep to the same dates because it was booked during my easter break from uni. However if I had pushed the break back to the summer when I'm off again to book the same room would cost much more since I booked it during the black friday sale.
