Drayton Manor Park

I thought this. The foundations must be huge. The cost to remove, transport etc will be massive. Probably better to just purchase a new one!

Yeah I think there's little to no chance of it being sold. If somebody wanted a drop tower in this day and age they'd probably opt for a newer model too.

Hopefully it gets to stay where it is for a few more years yet before it's scrapped. It's a really good ride and be a shame to see it leave. However maybe the costs of the cables and parts is too much of a burden for them to continue on much longer. And if they are turning away from thrill rides then there's going to be less and less ridership. Shame.

Maybe Drayton will keep it until it comes to the point where it's more trouble than it's worth and then simply scrap it.
I have a feeling this is already the case. It’s 21 years old this year and probably needs a lot of work doing to it.

Drop towers have been relocated before, so it’s certainly not impossible to do; for starters, I know that Six Flags New Orleans’ drop towers got relocated to Great Escape after that park closed, and I know that Funland Hayling Island also purchased a drop tower second-hand from the Trocadero Centre.

I’ll admit that it’s not something that commonly happens, though...

They wont move the foundations. When rides or any building is moved they are never moved with foundations. You cannot really move gigantic pieces of re enforced concrete once laid. You have two options, smash it up or leave it.

Then on the other end, it is far easier and cheaper just to relay a new concerete foundation.

This foundation will need laying brand new and to the same cost, regardless of if you are buying a second hand or brand new drop tower.

It would appear that Drayton Manor is teasing some sort of pirate-themed attraction:

Interesting... could this be teasing a pirate retheme of Splash Canyon, or could the planned Wave Swinger be pirate-themed?

A ship's wheel suggests 'nautical' rather than 'pirate' specifically to me.
Perhaps so; maybe “pirate” was the wrong word!

In that case, I’d probably guess that it’s something to do with Splash Canyon, and possibly the Waveswinger too if it’s going on the G Force site as predicted.

I think the Bryans will be proud that the looping group is spending so much money on bringing the park back up to a high standard. Sheriff showdown looks better than it did new in 2018.

Great to see work taking place. Interestingly, apologies if already mentioned, Splash Canyon has been removed from the website, presumably so it can be re-added in its new guise.

Pirate Adventure reopening confirmed!!!11!!1

@Burbs I think you are right. There has been a lot of construction work going on in and around the Pirate Adventure building. If this is the case I’ll definitely be visiting this season!! I hope this is not an April Fools joke.

Wait.....are people genuinely believing it could be Pirate Adventure?

Surely that's impossible considering they sold most of it off and the building had practically been condemned.

It's the Rapids surely....

I reckon it's Pirate Adventure. All the work they're doing around Splash Canyon is just a cunning decoy. Come on Drayton Manor, you're going to have to do better than that.

Yup. 100% Pirate Adventure reopening. Drayton have definitely spent all this money on painting Shockwave and Splash Canyon to distract us from the bigger picture. Bring on the 2021 pirates takeover.
