Maverick at the start of the day is far more intense than Icon looks at attempting to overspeed. It'll be perfectly safe and make the ride far more interesting. Perhaps even... a good coaster?

Just sitting in Maverick's train in the station without moving anywhere is more intense than Icon, as you have the thrill of knowing you are at Cedar Point!

So this year you need to scan your park ticket at the entrance to every ride, but they still aren’t selling non-rider tickets. Anyone know what the point in this might be?

That sucks. I thought they would be doing away with the paper ticket for another season. Wasn’t the point of not having wristbands last season to take out the contact point of the staff putting it on you? Instead they will be handing you a paper ticket now?!

It’s an E ticket on your phone with a picture of you attached to your file, so still paperless but I’m not understanding the point behind scanning at every ride. I believe you can also get a paper ticket printed at guest services if your phone dies.

Ok, yes not getting the point of that if they managed without scanning on every ride last season. Maybe for them to analyse numbers on each ride? I’m sure plenty of folks will prefer to get that paper ticket then, until wristbands return. Not everyone has a mobile or always has it in the park with them, or would rather conserve battery life in case they need to make an actual phone call, text, etc.

It's another nonsense decision by the pleasure beach. Utterly pointless to have to scan on every ride.

Unless of course they are honouring diamond passes (season walk round passes) which were originally bought for the 2020 season?

@rob666 have you heard anything about your mrs's diamond pass?

If they aren't honouring diamond passes then I see no point whatsoever in making guests scan in on every ride. But then again this is the pleasure beach so we should be used to crazy decisions by now!

EDIT - What if for example you have children who you put their eticket on your phone but you don't mind them going off by themselves for a bit and doing some rides. Then what do you do? It could be a right farce!

Mornin' shakey...
My good lady wife's pass is up for debate, but diamond passes are no longer sadly.
All seems a bit of a farce to me, wife with no beer pass, me no mobile phone or access to my email account due to the three legged dog sitting on my tablet, I'm going in by pole vault round the back of the maze, then bribing the ride staff with sweeties.
Edit...Splitting your group shakey, go to the ticket office and get extra entry tickets printed.
Must say last year they dealt with no phone/email issues very well indeed.
We don't name names here, so I won't say well done James, gaffer on admissions.

It does feel like we have ended up with a level of complexity that wasn't inevitable. From being able to walk in and ride to where we were before the pandemic is bonkers, without the whole E ticket thing.

I genuinely thought they would scrap the entry pass after last year’s enforced dry run. It just seemed like they’d been handed an opportunity to do it, with a good excuse and it would also bring some efficiency to operations and costs.

In fact, when you say it like that, I should have known...

I once witnessed a bunch of Americans roll in to Ticket Sales mid afternoon, they wanted to ride the Big One and Valhalla and were presented with a myriad of options that left them flummoxed.

"You can buy a wristband, that will give you access to all rides for the remainder of the day ... Or you can use tickets to ride whatever you would like individually, however to do this you will also need to buy a Pleasure Beach Pass. Or you can buy a Big One Ride ticket that you can use to access one ride and then you could use tickets to access the other. The Big One Ride ticket includes a Pleasure Beach Pass but you don't have to use it on the Big One, you can choose any ride but make sure it's one of the bigger ones or it might be cheaper to buy Tickets and a Pleasure Beach Pass separately. A Pleasure Beach Pass only gives you access to the park ... Diamond and Platinum passes are our season pass offers".

... And then the killer blow "Sorry the Big One is closed due to the wind".

Post of the year award right there. Just over a week to go!

Hi, first time posting so apologies if this is in the wrong place but I had a quick question.

I’m planning a day trip to BPPB on April 20 and was wondering how busy it might be. I’ve looked up the queue times elsewhere but the data is skewed and given it’s a long way from the south coast where I’m from I’m wary of a long journey only to spend the day queuing for hours on end for the rides.

Any insight from you-in-the-know would be very much appreciated.

Seems like a good day to visit to me. All schools should be back after Easter, there won’t be any school trips, etc. Midweek visits on such weeks around then are generally great.

Of course you can never guarantee every ride being open but that’s the same in any park at any time. They will have been open for a week by then so hopefully the rides will be in full swing.

Also in a way Spring off peak is better than Autumn peak as you are less likely to get the CBA attitude and random ride closures for no apparent reason. Enjoy and welcome to the forum!

I wouldn’t take too much notice of queue time sites, I’m sure I’ve read that they are often inaccurate. BPB doesn’t have its own queue time boards, those of us who are regular can take a good guess based on where the queue stretches to, number of trains on coasters, etc. I know that doesn’t help you right now, but we can explain further if needed, such as Streak coaster being permanently on one train and if the queue is out the station passage, round the pre lift hill bend and level with the Krusty Krab Order Up ride, you are looking at a one hour queue! Is this your first time at BPB?

Save the big coasters 'till later, unless it is windy.
Should be able to get around everything that is open, don't miss the dark rides.
Have fun.

It has been announced that the Blackpool Pleasure Beach Radio has a new sponsor for the 2021 season. The excat brand that is sponsoring the Blackpool Pleasure Beach Radio has not been announced yet but it has been confirmed that they do have a sponsor for the 2021 season.
What brands do you think should sponsor the Blackpool Pleasure Beach Radio?

1990(ish) when the park was a hot bed of activity. The Greatest Show on Earth has been relocated from the Casino (and considerably altered), the Grand National station has been rebuilt and the Autoskooter has been transformed into the Superbowl.

Like this sort of nonsense? You might enjoy what I have put together here.

Interesting! It does feel like a logical thing to be sponsored ... it'll always be Kit Kat Radio to me !

It’s always intrigued me to think they spent money on relocating Greatest Show on Earth, only to boot it out in favour of Burger King relatively shortly after. I guess it wasn’t the most popular of attractions and the franchise money talked.

The WGT era is full of mad stuff like this, for every slam dunk there is a head scratcher. During its later years, it was horribly unreliable as I recall and as I understand, a pain to evac from. It did a seven year stint, which is not insignificant, I guess.
