If you took AT's core coaster hardware and put them on a flat Tarmac car park, I bet you very few of us would be as enthusiastic about the park as we are. And we are enthusiastic about the place, that's why we want the best for it. Negative old tossers like me may bad mouth the place, but I do it because I love it and hate the way it's majoritly been treated for the best part of 2 decades.
I've not contradicted myself because like yourself I want the best for thr park. And despite me seeing good intention and effort in adding these new flats, fairground rides don't belong in a theme park and definitely not one the standard of Towers. Admittedly I was very happy at start to see that towers were adding new flats, as its a good indication of future permanent investment. However, given the photos I've seen of some of these rides, they really need to be themed to suit their respective area because they just look tacky. It is a shame it had to come to bringing in those type of rides but we'll see if they do anything with them or just keep them looking like a tacky fairground ride

Alton Towers use to be the only park I followed but been honest if I had the choice I would rather go and support all the little parks across the uk than a Merlin park.
I just want to feel I had good value for money and I feel you don’t have that at Alton Towers with fast track tickets been sold during this pandemic with only select rows in use it made Thirteen, Wickerman and the Smiler get over 2 hour queues each during scarefest.
Having the 4 flat rides is a good choice and hopefully if it works well for both Mellors and the towers could see them staying for a while or switching to other flat rides. It could mean getting double figure ride counts for the 1st time in years.

There's always a chance they might be themed to their areas - I'm not sure how likely but it wouldn't take long, even if they hadn't started today it could still be done by Monday. A guessing game until then I guess.

Why don’t they slowly start installing permanent lighting now?

To be fair, they slowly are. I'm sure this will continue. There are far less generators used now vs. a decade ago.

Did we speculate that the x sector flat could be made permanent or have I remembered wrong? I'm pretty sure they said in the TPWW video that now that was the only one that hasnt been accounted for yet, but I might be wrong.

We've just got to hope that they get quite long queues so its raises the attention of more permanent investments. I'd imagine if they don't, it might be assumed people aren't interested and we'll get nothing permanent in the future. Although, Enterprise and The Blade having 60 minute queues last season (social distancing aside) is a good enough hint hopefully on its own right.

That’s good to know, cost effective and better for the environment

Mental.

Such an opportunity to ditch this stupid devaluation of their own product.

weirdly I don’t think free tickets devalued the price expectations as much as the 2for1 on cereal, soap, crisps and everything else.
But a free ticket feels lucky or special.

I think it's being associated with The Sun that is the most devaluing thing

there are probably a huge number of Sun readers in the park with or without free tickets.
For Sun readers the association makes the park more appealing.

It’s the only time I go the parks since I given up my Merlin pass in 2012. I think it’s a deal they got with the sun which they can’t just give up. I remember before the Internet was popular the 1st time u saw the new park map or new attractions was in the 8 page pullout in the sun.

Done the Sun ticket offer since the start, probably at least twenty years ago, only missed last year because the dates were poor, and the covid issues.
I imagine they have done it to tie in with the planned free for all at midsummer.

Freebie tickets are back in a season where people will be restricted from going abroad and park capacity will be capped. And they were doing so well as well.

It seems like so much effort has gone in to delighting visitors for the season ahead with a higher quality experience, you can't help but feel that a little bit of effort has been wasted by giving away tickets. My only hope is that the Sun have have paid them huge wads of cash for the deal.
